A decent and inexpensive soil tester with a few design flaws
I like the look and feel of this meter. It feels sturdy in the hand. Functionally it works better indoors for houseplants than it does outdoors in the garden. It has a few pros and cons thought.ProsEasy to use. Just turn it on and stick the probe in the soil.Tests pH, Temp, Light, MoistureLooks coolConsThe screen is too dim in sunlight to read. Even with the backlight on.The screen is perpendicular to the ground, when in use, so you have to get down on your hands and knees to read it. I'm old, this is not good. There is no HOLD button to save readings so you have to read the meter while it's in the ground.Improvements the manufacturer could makePoint the screen up so that you don't have to crawl on the ground to read it.Implement a HOLD button to save readings for a couple of minutes.

Worthless piece of junk.
This is an absolutely worthless piece of junk. The display is only visible from a very narrow angle. If you place it in the ground to measure the moisture, the display is simply not visible unless you lie down on the ground and view it from head on. I'm serious. There is no "hold" function, so if you remove the probe from the soil to read the value on the display, the reading is lost. I will be returning. Save yourself the grief and buy something else.

So so, not sturdy, slow, narrow viewing angle.
Seems like an OK product, didn’t get to use it much because it came apart almost immediately. Here’s what I noticed so far…It is slow on all readings, though. Returning original as the sensor pulled right out of tubing. Very narrow viewing angle on well lighted screen. You’ll have to lay down to read it. Shuts off on a timer, even if you’re actively using it. The light and moisture readings are all “relative” (Low-, Low, Low+….) Gonna try another one since I was able to use the first one so little, but I have my doubts.

Doesn't work
Unfortunately this doesn't work. It would say a pH of 7 no matter what I placed it in. I even put it in club soda and other random things to see what it would do. Additionally it couldn't read mosture well either. It would only say wet if I was pouring water right on it. Also as a other reviewer pointed out the screen is impossible to read from above or at a angle. You'd basically need to lay on the ground to read it. I returned this and am just gonna try to manage without one.

Irredeemably useless product - utter waste of money
I am a recent convert to indoor gardening and I bought this hydrometer in the hopes that it might make watering/caring for my plants a little easier. Reading through the reviews I truly thought it would, for the most part, be a reliable product. BOY was I wrong. This piece of crap is like a teenage house-cat - it hardly does anything at all. The actual hydrometer (moisture testing) function is completely broken. No matter how recently I have watered any of my plants the reading is always "Dry+" or "Dry" and NEVER changes. I have put this sucker in soil that is practically dripping and it still thinks it's in the freaking Sahara desert. On top of that, the pH reader never changes from exactly 7.0. In over 8 different soil samples with a variety actively growing plants my pH reading is 7. Not 6.9, not 7.1 - just 7. I've yet to see the number change even a single decimal place. And yes, I am holding it in place for a decent amount of minutes. The temperature and sunlight gauges are fairly accurate, but I'm an indoor gardener! I have grow lights that shine down whenever I want and a climate controlled environment, so these features are largely useless to me, and they certainly weren't what drove me to make this purchase. In every meaningful way this product COULD deliver, it didn't. I absolutely encourage everyone thinking of buying this for the 4-in-1 functionality to step back, consider SPECIFICALLY what you need measured most of all (moisture, sunlight, pH, etc.) and find a tool EXCLUSIVELY for that purpose. Dear god whatever you do, don't buy this junk.

Good product, poor design.
I live in a desert and soil moisture is just as important as the temperature. I tested this both indoors and out doors. It is very hard to see let alone read the display when you are in sunlight, both direct and indirect. This makes it almost impossible to see how much moisture the soil has in it outdoors and the temperature is barely readable. To get good vegetables out of a garden, it is just as important to monitor the moisture levels as it is the temperature of the soil even when using mulch. When I tested indoors with the house plants, it worked as designed. The display was very easy to read. Needless to say, I am looking for a better monitor for outdoor use.

Location, location, location
I love this meter, because it provides me with information that helps me maintain the health of my beautiful plants. I am no longer guessing if lighting is okay, it tells me immediately.A lot of times our plants don't make it, because they are not in right location. I no longer have that issue and my plants are thriving.

Very disappointed
The screen is unreadable. The numbers being displayed are poor. You have to keep saying ok if that a 5 or a 6. The accuracy is bad because when you are trying to figure out what it is reading right or not then you test it with other ph readers and find that it’s not accurate at all.

Poor display
In sunshine, the display is faint and unreadable. In average light the display isn't too bad but the viewing angle appears to be below the horizontal. I shall return this and get a tried, trusted and readable meter.

Cheap piece of crap
Just like many other people who bought this experienced the same problems with the tip coming off with the second time inserting it into the soil. Huge waist of money
