Q: Rt of this bag has the rfid protection? is it just the small mesh bag or a specific part of the handbag?

The small mesh zippered bag has rfid protection and there is an inside pocket also that also has rfid protection. Inside pocket great for your passport, smaller mesh bag for credit cards. This is a great travel bag. Perfect number of zippered pockets inside and out, slash proof sides and strap. Great size too. Just used it recently on two week trip in Europe.

Q: Do the cables in the strap dig into your shoulder? How about the part where the cables connect to the adjusting slide?

No they do not dig into your shoulder

Q: Can this bag hold a 12.9" iPad?

Hi. No, it won't. I tried putting a 12" folder into my/this bag and it stuck out tall enough that I could not close the zipper. It won't fit the other direction either.
