On Fire: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life

I had the good fortune to listen to John speak last year in Long Beach at a Home Care conference. I am very wary of motivational speakers, but his delivery, story and sincerity touched me. I have read this book and try to follow the 7 life choices promoted whenever possible. Doing so has dramatically improved my life. They are simple, obvious, but so often overlooked. It has reignited my life. The one I enjoy the most is to say hello, smile, acknowledge and talk with passerby’s, shop assistance and folk I come across daily. Receiving a smile back makes for happier day for both myself and the recipient. I am very grateful for what I have, and have returned to my glass half full self of old. Some would even say I am a glass full guy now. This book came at a point in my life when I needed it the the most. The other life choices are simple, just as easy to embrace and have also impacted my life for the better.

This is one of those books that I know I will read again and again, when thoughts of a previous car accident flood my mind and I'm tempted to feel sorry for myself. I purchased it as a book to energize me for a current project, and it energized me alright, but for life! It is too easy to feel victimized on a daily basis due to a traumatic past experience, but to see it through new eyes- through his eyes- gives me fresh hope for tomorrow. Instead of my mind being overwhelmed with how painful my experience was, I've really started thinking of who was there for me, who helped me, and how I can help others. I'd call this book life-changing, for sure.

It was what we were expecting.

I have read around 1000 books over nearly 2 decades. I can say without a doubt, that this one, has moved me more than any other one read. Mr O'Leary describes his triumphant recovery from seemingly insurmountable devastation (ie 100% of his body burnt from an accident at 9 years old, less than 1% chance of survival) in an amazing format. Showing that all of life is a blessing and it's all interconnected, John touchingly describes how things were miraculously orchestrated to aid and guide his recovery. Based on these amazing 'inflection points' of a seemingly horrific tragedy, John is able to gleen lifelong lessons from the many steps of his recovery.These lessons are given real life authenticity unlike any other book I have read, based on the miraculous ways spirit led his recovery through family, friend, and unseen hero interventions/assistance. I cried when John desribed how Jim, Susan, and Amy (all siblings) all took tremnedously courageous actions immediately after his fire burning accident; additionally how Jack Buck and Mr. Nurse Roy assisted in his belief that he could recover. I also welled up when Beth (his wife) said "Yes! to finally dating and his description of his mom's tremendous faith/grit and father's amazing love for his "little monkey".If you truly want to be touched, moved, and inspired by the power of love, grace, and joyous triumph coming from seemingly the most devastating of circumstances Go Buy/Read this book. Inspiring

OKay, first of all I just want to say THANK YOU to the seller. When it showed that my order had arrived when it did not, I informed Amazon of what happened and explained I didn't want a refund, just the book! The told me that I would only be able to get a refund and I excepted that. But then the seller was kind enough to send me a replacement. I am so glad, this book is fantastic!! I am almost half way through but I consider this life changing. John's candor, his prospective, and his beautiful humanity are encouraging, inspiring, touching. Thank you for showing me that there is a better more fulfilling way of living life, thank you for your courage. If you are ready and willing to face your own humanity, put this on your must read list

John O'Leary wrote an incredibly inspiring book. I would place it in my top five, all time favorite reads. What he went through, his faith in God, and his tenacious ability to live his life despite all odds and with purpose brought both tears and laughter. I have lived with the inconvenience of missing my left arm. My mom never treated me any differently than any other child and allowed me to struggle as I tried to learn how to do things with one hand. John's mom was an awesome mom and had a lot to do with the attitude he took to survive this devastating trial. My daughter actually turned me on to John when he came and spoke at her work - Ramsey Solution. Way to go John, your message needs to be heard by everyone. You have taken away any excuse for someone with a disability! Thank you.

I absolutely love this book. When it comes positivity & inspirational books this is one of my favourites.The author has been through such a traumatic ordeal you wonder how on earth he got through it ... but not only did he survive ... he’s thrives through life.I even picked this book for our book club and I read it twice!! I never read a book, or watch a film, twice! But this book is magical!

I’ve been meaning to buy this book for ages, eventually I gifted it to myself for Christmas- there’s no rule against it!I enjoyed reading the story of John O’Leary and what he had overcome. I think my biggest takeaway is how the little acts that someone does, make a big difference.This book is good for the soul.

I bought this book on gut instint and boy was I not disappointed I LOVE it. It will be the book I tell everyone to read. Whether ur worried about ur future or refusing to take a chance or if u can't see how u could ever make a difference in someone life this book is for u.It has changed my life and the way I see fear. It made me laugh out loud and it made me cry.I felt like I was on this journey with John as he takes us thro this story...his story.I came to realise that I have t chance to make a difference and my first step was buying this book.Xx

Why are we so afraid? When truly looking at the reason it almost sounds silly! This book has made me look deep inside as to why I fear certain things, and to uncover the reasons. To deal and to make a different choice. This is my inflection point!! Time to live the way God designed and intended for me to live! Thank you!!!!

I have never cried so much reading a book. This book is a must read!! We spend so much time worrying about things that may never happen and stressing about things in the past we can't change. This book puts it all into perspective and has inspired me to live boldly and with courage.
