My first chime arrived broken and dented. I returned it for another one. When it first arrived, I pulled it out to make sure it was in good shape and working order. Everything looked good and I turned it on and waited for the solar panel to charge so I could make sure it was working. After a while, I noticed that the light didn't come on. I turned it off and back on. I waited some more. still nothing. I jiggled the wire going up to the bulb and the light flickered on. I did it a few more times and again it flickered. I supposed it had a short. I thought about packaging it up to send back to Amazon but left it there. That night, I walked through the house with the lights off, and low and behold, the light was bright and working well. This is when I realized that there wasn't a short, but had been turning off because it was daytime and of course wouldn't be shining in the light. I wonder if some of the other posts of people saying it wasn't working is because they had the same thing happen that I did.

It looks really neat at night or dusk, just a little light to accent your garden or your porch or wherever you like. Great gift. The box it came in was extremely minimal. I am surprised it survived shipment. No bubble wrap between metal pieces but nothing got scratched or damaged in my case.

This little turtle is so beautiful! Casts light to wall if you have close to one the chimes aren't the best but still sound chalky sweet. Prefect medium light. The rendition of the turtle and the sphere is very pleasing. Good job!

I love this solar wind chime. It stays lit for a long period of time AND it stays fairly bright also. I've had other solar items that burn brightly for about an hour then fade away. I love wind chimes and I love ths sounds from this one. Mine came with a AA-sized battery already installed so I didn't need to add a battery but if you have to add one, it's NOT easy to get to to change out. Also, not sure what type of battery would be needed since it obviously has to store the energy it gets from the sun's rays. IF you live an an area that doesn't get a lot of sun, this may not be the outdoor item for you. It takes probably 6 hrs of sunlight, of which most needs to be direct, in order to shine brightly. If you go through a couple fo gray or rainy days, it will not work. I have brought mine in on those days and left it under one of my LED lights during the day. Also, it's not easy to know if you've turned it on or not since you move the switch without knowing if it's on or not. Of course, I took it into a darkend room and flipped the switch to determine if it was on or not. Update - it no longer works. Chimes are still beautiful sounding but the light no longer works. Very sad.
