If I Had Only Known I Would Have Made the Swith Years Ago!
Love this kitty litter box. Tried it originally with the breeze pellets included in the starter kit but switched to pine pellets almost immediately. The design is amazing, well thought out and simple to use. Would prefer better materials but it works in plastic and my cats do not object to plastic. This one has a pee pad in a drawer just below the main box. The cat pees on the pine pellets, the pine pellets absorb the pee, expand and disintegrate, falling through the grating on the bottom of the main cat box. I've had the box for over a month and a half and mostly I move the pellets around some, last night was the first time I had to make a concerted effort to push them through the grate. In this case it was because the pull out drawer below the grate was full and the pee pad needed to be cleaned out. And that was an amazingly simple procedure. Pull the pan out, fold the flaps of the pee pad and toss. I love it. I used to spend hours on my kitty boxes each morning. Both my cats feel it is their god given right to make me as much work as possible, scattering their clay litter across their bathroom, into my living room and office. The made a mess out of everything. Pine litter is wonderful. They do not pick it up in their feet the way they pick up clay litter and each pellet is large and heavy so it is not worth their while to go nuts covering their poo. You also have the fact that the pine pellets have that pine smell and they don't seem concerned, they spread a light layer and move on.Now I will admit it was a tad difficult to get both my cats on board with the new box and pine pellets. BUT, I have a chocolate Persian, 2nd rarest colorway and prissy beyond belief. In the end I wore her down. Put the pine pellets on top of her clay litter and just kept clearing out the clay litter as she used her box replacing it with more and more pine. It took well over a month till she would acknowledge the new box and even longer to get her to use it. But the new box is clean and easy to keep up and I eventually installed it in their main bathroom and her old box is stinky and a bit of a mess and I put that box in the temporary spot where I keep put the new kitten. This week she started using the new box, voluntarily. If this cat can make the switch any cat can. One day a few years ago I cut up fresh chicken and put three bite size morsels in her wet food. She absolutely refused to eat her wet food while the three morsels were in the bowl. She then went on a hunger strike to the point where I had to take her to the vet..... She is prissy beyond belief.

Actually life changing, not exaggerating
This litter system is genuinely life changing, and that’s not even an exaggeration. It’s improved both our lives re: cleaning and Miss Kitty’s re: using it. All the essay-length, updated-multiple-times reviews on here aren’t lying. It’s been about a year since we got it and it’s been worth every penny. So here’s my essay length review.Miss Kitty likes to pee in the same corner every. single. time. Without fail. That meant that when we still used regular litter, that corner was always extra gross. Didn’t matter how well the litter was designed to clump. Also the older Miss Kitty gets, the less she cared about keeping her feet clean, so she was tracking grody footprints everywhere. She also had litter stuck in the fur between her paws which couldn’t have been comfortable. And she was kicking the litter out and then grippin’ it in her paws, so she was tracking litter everywhere, no matter what we did to clean. Since she likes to sleep on our bed all the time, we were getting desperate for a solution. So I went searching and came across this (I think from a Reddit suggestion iirc). I read a bunch of the reviews, the multiple updates, the photos, the hacks. It sounded too good to be true. Good news: it’s true. The major pros:• The lack of smell. Oh man, that right there is one of the biggest pluses. Cat ammonia permeates everything and I hate the idea that I could become nose blind to it and then have family or friends over who could smell it. Scented cat litter was never an option because then Miss Kitty would walk by all perfumed but all that did was make me think of the fact that she just got out of the litter box. Ew. And then later that turned into scented cat ammonia when cleaning it out. Ew. This system is - somehow - 98% scent free, even when it’s time to change a batch of pellets. Truly magical.• The near lack of “ew” factor when cleaning out the poop or pee pad. You know what I mean, re: regular litter.• The pellets are advertised to work for 4 weeks, but we usually get about 6 weeks out of each batch. Each batch uses 3.5lbs of pellets and that looks like it isn’t enough if you’re coming from regular litter, but since it doesn’t need to absorb liquid, it’s definitely sufficient. They also mask the poop smell impressively well. There’s a little odor while it’s fresh, but the zeolite pellets dry it out quickly.• The pee pads are magical. I’ve used “magical” a few times, but I really mean it. Absolutely ZERO cat urine smell, no matter how full or even over-full they get. I don’t know how they do it. Based on plenty of other reviews, I’m pretty sure every new Breeze system owner accidentally lets a pad go too long at least once until it’s swimming in urine (gross) and then has a mixed bag of emotions of “ew!” and “how is there no smell??” We have to change the pad on a schedule because there will be no odor to remind us. With one cat, we change it once a week (the night before trash day).• Both the pads and pellets are available locally in PetSmart and Petco. No generics though.• Clean paws! No more disgusting footprints in the hallway. Her toe beans have never looked so perfectly clean and pink. She’s 20yo, so anything to help her hygiene helps her out.• No more litter everywhere. The pellets are too big for her to grip in her paws, so she can’t track them beyond the immediate vicinity of the litter box.• It’s easier to keep an eye on her health. Looking at her poop and seeing the color of her pee are good insights into her health and if anything changes, especially as she gets older. Also it’s really easy to use a dip strip indicator by just pressing it into the pee pad right after she gets out of the box.• The cover that flips back is great, compared to having to unclip the entire top each time. Makes cleaning out the poops easy, but keeps things covered and out of sight. It’s a small detail but it’s helpful.• Since there’s no regular litter with clay to conceal, the dried poop can just be tossed down the toilet. Makes it easier to clean more often.• Since the pellets dry everything out quickly and the pee is absorbed by a pad in the lower tray, the box just needs to be washed in between each batch of pellets, so about every 6 weeks.• Even with buying brand name pads and pellets, the annual cost of litter stuff is way, way lower than having to buy litter frequently.• Miss Kitty adapted to the new system right away. Fortunately, she’s never been picky when I’ve changed litter brands. I did a couple things for the first week to encourage her transition. I mixed a little regular litter in with the pellets for the familiar smell and feel. That shuffled out to the pee pad below over the week and then she was just left with the pellets. I put a couple old poops from the used litter in the new box, again to bring a familiar scent to the new system. And I left her old box out too for a week, but I left the used litter in there to discourage use of it. She was a little unsure the first evening, but after the first use, she never went back in her old box.• For people who are disabled/limited by lifting weight, picking up a 7lbs bag of pellets is way more feasible than 20-40lbs of litter or a box of used litter.Cons:• The Tidy Cats pellets and pads are pricey. That said, they are worth it for how well and how long they work. Some reviews talk about washing the pellets to extend their lifespan. I tried it just once out of curiosity, using the pet enzyme cleaner and a thorough rinse. It’s just not worth the gross hassle so I never did it again. Tidy Cat must have a stranglehold on the pellets because I can’t find an off brand, and if I somehow do, they’re back ordered or “we don’t know if these will be available again.” I wouldn’t think zeolite (the mineral they’re made of) pellets would be hard to find a generic of, but I’ve yet to. Even the pet stores don’t have their own generic versions. I haven’t tried generic pee pads yet, but the Tidy Cat ones work so well I’m fine with paying a bit more.• The pellets can be noisy. Miss Kitty loves rustlin’ in the box and those hard pellets against hard plastic can be fairly loud. I think she paws at the litter more now because she’s trying to cover the poop but it pretty much sits on top of the pellets no matter what she does. We tried getting the equine pine pellets that are dirt cheap and supposed to break down once they’re wet. But Miss Kitty apparently loved shredding those so much she was spending extra time rustlin’. All we ended up with was a messy pile of pine powder that was too much to fit in the lower tray. We gave up after a week. So we’re back to the louder, more expensive Tidy Cat pellets, but the pros vastly outweigh the cons. We got used to the sound in about a week or two.• Stepping on a pellet with your heel can feel like stepping on a Lego. With all her rustlin’ Miss Kitty still kicks litter out of the box. We have a litter pad outside the box - the kind with sizable holes and two layers so it’s easy to clean up (got it on Amazon too) - and that really helps catch them, but there’s still usually a few in the vicinity. We just have to be on top of cleaning the loose ones up. Also pointing the box opening towards the wall instead of the walkway really helped. The tray can be flipped to open either way - same direction or opposite direction of the box opening.Never thought I’d be evangelizing cat litter, but here I am. TL;DR just get it. You won’t regret it.

Clean Floors!!! :)
I love my cats, but I may just love this litter box more.I switched from clay litter several years ago, after discovering that the clay dust was irritating both to my newly adopted-cat and to my visiting mom. We tried several different types of litter before settling on the popular brand of pine pellet litter. It's a pretty decent product in terms of odor control and practicality, but OH! The tracking!! Sawdust all over my floors; it was like living in a barn. When company came around, it was mortifying. If they stayed long enough, the inevitable little sawdust footprints would begin to appear all over my dark wood floors. Company: "what's that??" Me: "um, it's...cat litter...I don't know what got into them...they have never done this before...wait, don't leave..."I found the Breeze system during one of my exhaustive searches for the perfect litter; I'm sure my fellow cat-lovers can feel my pain. I liked the idea of the grates at the bottom for the urine to pass through and be absorbed by an odor-controlling pad. Even better was the promise that the pellets wouldn't break down and track all over my house. I thought the price was a little steep, what with having to buy the wee-wee pads on a regular basis, but I was intrigued. And desperate. When I received my brand spanking new catbox, I proceeded to empty and wash out the old box and just pop the new box in its place without much fanfare. In my experience, felines are less likely to reject something new if you just act as if nothing is different. Just put it down and walk away. The instructions recommend leaving the old litter box out and just not maintaining it, so that the cats will prefer to use the clean Breeze box, but my bathroom is way too small. If I put two catboxes in the bathroom, I won't be able to fit myself in there, so no. Instead, I mixed some of the pine pellets in with the Breeze pellets and I put a little bit of the old used litter in the bottom drawer, on top of the wee-wee pad, so it would smell familiar to them. Then I crossed my fingers. As the days passed, I couldn't believe how clean my floors remained. As promised, the pellets remain in one piece, so there's nothing to stick to their paws and track everywhere. Oh sure, I'll find the occasional pellet or two on the floor by the catbox, but that's nothing. It only takes a second to sweep it into the dustpan and toss it back in the box. It's absolutely nothing compared to what I have been through. The pine pellets that I added to the Breeze pellets broke down as usual, but instead of sticking to their paws and ending up on my floors, the sawdust simply fell through the grates at the bottom and onto the wee-wee pad beneath. Genius! Another reviewer here said he uses this box with the pine pellets instead of the Breeze pellets, and I may give that a shot as well, since I have leftover pine stuff anyway. I'm just afraid that too many of the pine pellets will cause the dreaded tracking problem again. The way I have it now is about a 60/40 mix (give or take) of Breeze pellets to pine pellets. I only put half of the bag of Breeze pellets in the box to mix in with the pine.My cats DID have an adjustment period of about a week, complete with both of them giving me the stink eye for several days and one leaving a massive poop at the front door as a sign of her displeasure. I gave her my sternest "Nono, bad kitty" and "the look" of disapproval as I scooped the poop and placed it in the new litterbox for her to see where it belongs. I threw in a few additional stern mommy looks for good measure as I scrubbed and disinfected the scene of the crime. The guilt trip must have worked, because she deposited her next poop in the Breeze box like I told her to. So far so good.I'll be brutally honest here - this stuff does nothing to control poop odor. You pretty much have to scoop out the poops as soon as you can. This may not be an issue if you're lucky enough to have a remote spot for your catbox, like a basement or spare bathroom. In my case, my one and only bathroom is the only place in my apartment for the catbox, so I have to be on poop alert at all times. Let's be honest, though. Poop is poop and it's gonna stink. That's why the air-freshener business is booming. The real odor culprit is urine. Raise your hand if you have ever tried a new brand of cat litter, only to walk into your house a few days later to find it smelling like a truck stop urinal. Few things are worse than that, but the good news is that the Breeze system eliminates urine odors REALLY well. They tell you to change the pad once a week for one cat, but in my house, it holds up for 8 - 10 days with two cats and NO urine odor. My cats love to drink plenty of fresh water, so they do pee quite a bit. I don't know if the pine pellets that are mixed in are helping with the odor control; that's certainly a possibility. I guess I'll find out when I run out of pine pellets to mix in with the Breeze pellets. The best news of all is that for the first time in years, I am living without cat litter tracked all over my house. This is the first time in years that my floors have not needed sweeping/vacuuming on a daily basis, sometimes twice a day. I debated whether to give the Breeze system 4 or 5 stars, because of the poop odor thing, but ultimately it has changed my life for the better, so 5 stars it is.~ A word about flushability. Some here have said that they just flush the poop with a few of the pellets stuck to it down the toilet. I called the Breeze hotline on the box and was told that they absolutely do not advise flushing the pellets down the toilet. They will also send you coupons if you ask. :) ~

Great product with a few caveats
I have always used clay clumping litter with my large (17 lb) cat, but it was starting to become a real hassle since his size requires a large box and he is a strong kicker/digger on top of that. My wife and I were getting sick of pawfuls of litter getting tossed about. We recently got a new kitten and decided to try some different litter options to try and modify things around the house. I bought the Breeze system almost on a whim because it seemed different from anything else. The kitten took to it right away and the big guy used it a few times during the transition phase and both of them dove right in when it became the only system in the house. Two weeks in with no problems/accidents/etc.So far I like it a lot, however it is not perfect.PROS:neat/clean. It works as directed- my cats are still trying to bury the feces a little bit, but for the most part, they leave them on top for easy scooping. That *could* lead to smell issues for some people, but my box is inside a litter-hut so it contains it quite well. The behavior modification of leaving the poop on top means no aggressive digging and no mess on the floor. Even a few tracked pellets could be easily scooped up and replaced.CONS:Could get expensive. The urine pads worked great the first week when it was mostly a 3 lb kitten using it. My large and well-hydrated cat could probably saturate the pad in a few days of normal use. I have a Drinkwell and Pioneer Pet fountains in the house and my cat loves water. With clay litter, I often scooped out urine clumps the size of a baseball. I can see this pad getting soaked quickly.Another aspect of price: even though it works as directed, you are going to lose pellets. My cats eat a mixture of natural wet food (rabbit, venison, duck) and high quality hard food and their stools are well-formed and solid, but still moist. As a result, pellets stick to them. You are going to have to toss a few pellets with each turd, often a fair amount. Over the course of the month, you are going to have to top off with more pellets. That could get very pricey. My Solution: I followed the lead of other reviewers and am using Feline Pine non-clumping pellets in the Breeze system. I actually purchased 2 Breezes: one has only the Breeze pellets and the second gets Feline Pine. The cats are using both boxes equally and the FP seems to work better over all. The pine pellets absorb the urine and help compensate for my big guy's massive volumes, saving the pad some work. The resulting sawdust drops into the pad area and I just dump it daily after scooping. The FP also helps absorb the poop smell better and the cats seem to prefer burying a little more with the pine (maybe the pellets are more gentle on their paws). Since the FP is much cheaper (like $25 for a 40 lb bag), I do not feel bad at all about tossing a bunch of pellets out with the poop and tossing in a cupful more.I may consider a mix of the Breeze pellets and FP pellets in order to try a "best of both" thing, but as it is now, the Feline Pine pellets really improve the function of the box.Summary: I would recommend this to anyone with cats, especially "kickers," but be prepared to spend a bit more on expendables, or be willing to experiment with alternate pellets.

Smells? What smells? Perfect size and easy to keep clean.
I purchased this litter box after several people recommended to me. It fits perfectly inside a cabinet that I purchased that conceals the box so it's not sitting out in plain site. Approx, Height =10.5" Nice smooth texture appearance and putting it together was so easy. 3 steps and it's ready. I am new to the pellet system as I have always used kitty litter for my cats. My little 5 week old kitten is already checking it out and doesn't seem to be having any trouble using it. Delivery was delayed in transit, so instead of next day delivery, it took 3 days. Very sturdy and the pellets have a pleasant smell. If you're on the fence because of price or just not sure how the pellets work, Give it a try! I am very happy with my purchase!

I thought she'd NEVER poop in this!
While my cat took to peeing in this box within a few days, she flat out refused to poop in it. Every time she used her old box to poop (after I'd discontinued maintenance like the instructions said) I'd add more pellets to it, thinking she just needed to get used to the feel of the pellets when she was burying her waste. After a week, her old box was a mix of 50/50 pellets and clumping clay litter. It was pretty clear to me that she wasn't planning on using the new box to poop. I see others have had this same issue, and I'm wondering what it is about pooping in this that some cats hate? She is big on burying, so I wondered if she just needed more pellets in the new box, and added some. Still no dice. Finally, I was desperate. I was not planning on maintaining two boxes for her just so she could poop in the clumping litter. At the end of the first week I decided to make the decision for her, and removed her old box completely. I decided to take the chance of having her poop on the floor, which she has never done. After her dinner she went downstairs to do her business, peed, and came back upstairs without pooping. After about an hour she started walking through the house meowing, which she did throughout the night. She doesn't normally do that, so I knew she was "telling" us that she wanted to poop, and she wanted her old box to do it in. After I went to sleep that night my husband locked her in the basement for an hour, and when he let her upstairs (after much complaining on her part) there was poop in her box! Ever since then she's used it like a champ to pee and poop. While I would not recommend that anyone try to force their cat to do this like we did, it worked for us.This box is super easy to clean and you don't smell the pee at all with the tray in place! I change the pad every Sunday, since Monday is our trash pickup day and I want to be able to put the pad right in the trash and out to the curb. You can certainly smell the urine when you remove the tray, and I would not want the pad sitting around in the trash can. My cat is a super-soaker, and I don't even have to change the pad more than once a week. The clumping litter was awful in this aspect. If I didn't get downstairs to clean her box for a few days, there would be huge clumps of pee stuck to the back of the box. She mostly directs her pee back there, so I have to rotate the pad mid-week. Every time I scoop the poop, which ends up being every other day, I sift the box to re-distribute the pellets. She's still burying, but maybe with time she will stop doing that and it will be easier for me to remove the solid waste. This system works great with our dog, too. Before the Breeze system, I had to worry about her "snacking" on the poop clumps in the box if she somehow got access to the basement, but now there aren't any.No more heavy, messy, stinky, dusty, clumping litter! No more hauling jugs or tubs of the stuff home! No more throwing pounds upon pounds of clumping litter in the landfill! No more tracking litter around the house, stinky litter box feet, and having my cat ingest litter when she cleans herself! This is such a great idea. It has got to be cleaner and healthier for everyone than the dusty clay litter. I have not noticed a smell from the poop, but the box is in my basement, and she is still attempting to bury it. Some of the pellets stick to her poop, so I have not been flushing it. If you can get your cat to use it, it's the best system out there.

Affordable, SO SUPERIOR to regular cat litter! Wonderful new system that is a LIFE-CHANGER!
I have 4 indoor only male cats and this system is a life-changer! It removes the dust everywhere problem of using even "dust free" litter. I do now have some stray pellets because of an over zealous cat flinging them while burying his deposit! But they're so easy to sweep up and put back into the box. The urine pads are fantastic and swell up due to a gel in them that absorbs lots of liquid. The boxes are beautiful; although my boys are too big to use them with the white tops on...talking about just the regular size unit. By removing the tops the cats fit better into the boxes and go where they're supposed to "go". With the solids remaining on top of the pellets it's simple to remove them. I am SO happy I saw this in someone's house and asked them about how they liked it before I got it. Btw, they also RAVED about how fabulous the system is. Honestly, imho this system is really a life-changer and worth every penny, not that it's expensive because it's not. Also the smell is gone too. They must have a deodorizer in the pads because I smell nothing anymore. SO much easier to change the pellets and the pads than scooping heavy, hard, smelly used cat litter. Less trash too. So far the pellets are the original ones and it's been well over 4 weeks; although not all 4 cats have adapted to the changeover yet. Try it! Buy it because it's about time someone invented a new system that actually works. And is affordable too! I bought 4 boxes and may have to get 2 more after I live with it awhile and see how the boys "share" them.

A+ 5 Stars We Love It!
I don’t usually write reviews; however, if this product can change things for someone else as it has for my kitty and I, then I feel compelled to share. I like to consult the reviews on Amazon before purchasing something, so now it’s time to give back! First off, my kitty is older possibly 14-17 years old (we found him and vet thought he was 7 then...). He had used a hooded litter box for quite some time. There was a lot of litter tracking. Recently, I started to notice that he was #2-ing in places other than the box. Also noticed that he stopped covering his business in the box. He pees a lot more than he used to. I was concerned about the change in his habits and was tired of the tracking. It was gross to find litter on my bedspread. I was apprehensive to try the Breeze system, only because of the size of the pellets. Kitty has arthritis in his ankles And when we found him abandoned, he was declawed:( I set up the system next to the other box. Had removed the hood earlier thinking he may be having trouble getting in, etc. I transferred an Almond Roca to the Breeze, as suggested, and didn’t clean the old box. Ugh that was hard. He didn’t take to the Breeze right away, but In about a week, he started to use it! Exclusively! I think it’s easier for his lil old bones to get into, too! I can’t believe how easy it is to keep clean! No gross tracking, clean paws, no smell! The pad really does trap in the urine and not one bit of stink. As mentioned, Kitty pees a lot more than he used to, so I change pad twice a week. I feel like I can monitor his health a LOT better this way, too. He has been using it for almost a month. So, to tailor the system to my cat’s needs, I change the pad twice a week and I did take another reviewer’s advice and added in more pellets. The one bag seemed a bit shallow. No more surprise bits under my bed and in corners! Cleaner, much less time consuming to maintain, cheaper and alas, no more lugging 20lb buckets of litter in and heavy gross garbage bags out. I did not expect to be so happy about a litter box, but I am. More importantly, Kitty digs it, and I honestly, did not think he would.Update: Just to follow-up, I have done the monthly change and, pardon the pun—it was a breeze! Threw away the pellets, disinfected the entire box and rinsed in hot water, dried and replaced the pellets with a bag and a half of new and back in business! It took like ten minutes. I imagine it will be even quicker next time as I didn’t really know what to expect. There were a few smaller pieces of clay stuck in the grate, and one piece of dew. Just used a toothpick n pushed it through. Carrying the bag out to the garbage can, it weighed a quarter of what the dirty litter used to! I have not had the problem of poop-laden pellets or smell that other reviewers have. It’s clean, it’s easy and I love it—over a month later. The only thing I’ve changed is, instead of the 2 sm bags of pellets, I’m using 1 1/2. Kitty does kick them out, so I’m trying a bit less. I am still saving money, saving time, not smelling the litter box and again—most importantly—Kitty digs it!

Purina Tidy Cat Breeze Litter System
👍 Positive:• Litter system that does not use regular clumping cat litter• Tray for adding urine pad that can be changed weekly👎 Negative:• Not a regularly sold item in Germany so it is expensive👤 Good For:• Those who do not like clumping cat litter• Has a dedicated urine tray in which you can remove the sheet and get a sample to be checked by the vet easily.I have 2 Scottish Fold cat which I brought over from Japan when I started working in Germany. In Japan a very similar litter system is found but uses a different completely different type of litter, which I prefer over zeolite litter. However the system is very convenient when needing to take urine sample. It is too bad it is not sold as a regular item here in Europe as it is expensive to import from USA.
