"Some people may mistakenly confuse propylene glycol with polyethylene glycol 3350 (the laxative Miralax) or even ethylene glycol (antifreeze), but they are each chemically distinct substances with very different uses and safety profiles." This propolis is potent. I use the ethanol-free version which contains propylene glycol. I see negative reviews posted but their warnings are in error. The concern is for the "ethylene glycol" in anti-freeze which is highly toxic but distinct from "propylene glycol" (a food-grade solvent and preservative) and polyethylene glycol 3350 which the osmotic laxative (active ingredient) in Mira-lax. The taste of propolis is not supposed to be pleasant. It is a very medicinal taste, with a warming sensation. Propolis is a highly complex substance with unique biological and medicinal properties. The main warning you should know for all propolis is that propolis is a bee product (literally bee glue). And if you have an allergy to bees or bee products, it is recommended that you avoid using propolis or use with caution.

Being someone who loves anchovies and stinky blue cheese I thought I could handle Bee Propolis no problem. I was mistaken. The taste is absolutely horrid and will take some time to get used to (if ever). After the first dropper full I immediately ordered the capsule form. I have been using both forms after a ten-day use of anti-biotics for a tooth infection. The dentist reluctantly filled the tooth (I don't want to lose it and I am opposed to root canal procedures) and I am using the Bee Propolis and some other natural remedies (garlic, echinacea, natural mouthwash, oil pulling) to continue the antibiotic therapy against any further tooth infection. Based on taste alone I would give this product two maybe three stars; but the lousy taste aside I give it five stars for what I believe is an effective natural remedy. Update: I haven't been using it much since receiving the capsule form but I must say that the effects are very positive in helping to alleviate some minor tooth pain following a tooth filling. The dentist told me to call if I needed an antibiotic, but I am the type of guy who buys organic produce (when I can find it) and eggs to avoid antibiotics. So I am firmly convinced in the antibiotic properties and effectiveness of bee propolis in tincture or capsule form.
