Earthly Bodies & Heavenly Hair: Natural and Healthy Bodycare for Every Body

Excellent ! Comprehensive! Precise! & Concise!
I purchased this book several months ago and it has quickly become the favorite in my natural body care book collection. I enjoy it so much that after I somehow lost it, I purchased another! Ms. Falconi seems very sincere in home-crafting and nature and her desire to help others to understand and learn the art. She really knows her stuff and does an excellent job explaining techniques to making herbal infusions, tintures, infused oils, salves and balms, using aromatherapy oils, powders, and creams. She also has succinct deffinitions for some of the major herbs and essential oils. The information in this book is very hands on and less scientific. If you're looking for chemical structures and such... this isn't the book. I have made several of the recipes and have loved them all... so have my friends and coworkers! Recipes are grouped by type of use: Facial care, Lip, mouth and tooth care, Hair and scalp, Whole Body treatments, Hands and feet, Especially for women, Especially for men, Especially for teens, Especially for babies, Especially for elders, and First aid. I have found that the recipes I've used so far very much accomplish the stated/desired effect. I really can't rave enough about the recipes and the directions on how to make them! I believe anyone who wants to make safe, superior, poison and petroleum free body care products will thoroughly enjoy this book! Good Luck!

This book is so much fun.
This are so many great “recipes” in this book. I have an herb garden and I’m just delighted with the new uses for them. Love this book.

This is an awesome book
My plan for getting this book was to make a hand and body lotion that actually works for me. I've tried over 10 of these recipe's and I can't say that I'm disappointed. I've spent hours and hours pouring over the info in this book and it's all sound advice. It gives you enough knowledge to even make your own concoctions. The only thing I'm not truly happy with is the recommendations in the back on where to get your ingredients. Take my advice and get them at Majestic Mountain Sage in Logan Utah. Also, check out the internet for other recipe's. All in all this is a good book....especially for the price.

Great natural Hair recipes for people of African descent.
This book was written almost 10 years ago and I'm just now discovering it......But, better late than NEVER!!I'm always on this never-ending quest to find products that will help me manage my afro, but most times I end up making my own concoctions because the majority of commercial hair products are just so ineffective for me.But, I found this book at a local flea market and flipped straight to the chapter on hair. I wrote down the author's recommended instructions on how to make an herbal infused vinegar rinse, bought the ingredients from a health foods store, and later went home to make it in my kitchen.Later, I eventually tried the rinse on my hair and to my delight, this hand-made herbal vinegar softened and detangled my hair better than any so-called salon product. And I'll tell you all a little secret too - the "Herbal Deluxe Hair Pomade" recipe in this book isn't all that different from Carols Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey that we pay over $15 a jar for (but....shhhh......you can't tell nobody)!

not for beginners due to age of publication; useful as a recipe framework
Published in 1998, the information contained in the book and the presentation of it is a throwback in time. Some of the ingredients really aren't used today (PABA) or there are simply better options available that may not have been then. Resources are of course relevant to the time it was written but not so much now, although some companies are still in existence and have newer technology such as an internet address. Now keeping that in mind, you will want to suss out the relevant information and ignore the outdated. You can only really do that if you already have some knowledge and understanding of the recipes and uses contained within the book. For that I would say it may not be the best choice for beginners, not that there isn't anything worthwhile. I would just want people to have more up to date information versus 1998 information. Now given all that, it is a delightful book of recipes with little snips of information throughout. I think it works as a framework for tweaking the recipes contained within, and making something with ingredients most useful to your needs. I like that I have added it to my library. I would love to see an updated and expanded version (or is there one??)

I purchased this book to use in my herbalism class. I actually already have an autographed copy, but can't find it.

I'd give it ten stars if I could!
Like one of the other reviewers, I have suffered for years from eczema. Reading that the other reviewer's eczema improved after consistent use of the recipes in the book, I decided to purchase it. What a huge improvement! My hands used to get literally raw looking...so ugly it was embarrassing. After only six weeks or so, I have only a small patch of eczema left on one of my fingers but it, too, seems to be improving. Furthermore, this is at the time of year when my hands would normally be worse because I'm an avid gardener and gardening irritates the eczema. I have tried many different kinds of beauty products over the years, but they must have had some common ingredients to which I am sensitive. I can't say how grateful I am for this book!

I like the book
I like the book. I love all the informations. I don’t like, that the amount of product you’ll get, would be enough for my entire village. I would appreciate a corresponding homepage with the recipes measured for one or two jars. Nevertheless a fantastic book in my opinion.

Loving this Book!!!
I bought this book based on its many positive reviews - so it's only fair that I now report on it. I like the book very much and recommend it. Because I'm an aesthetician I have lots of books on skin care, making body products, etc., and this one has a lot of appeal because it jumps right into the recipes without a lot of other information to take up space. There are 14 sections, such as Facial Care, Lip, Mouth & Tooth Care, Hair & Scalp, Body Treatments, etc., etc. There's even a section Especially for Men. After just a couple introductory pages and some info on skin types we jump right into our first recipe Basic Cleansing Oil with Essential Oils and off we go.... The recipes are laid out clearly with the list of ingrediants and directions. What I appreciate the most are the recipes for natural deodarants. I've made the Witch Hazel and Essential Oil deodarant using Rosemary & Peppermint and I absolutely LOVE IT - so fresh and natural. I've been wanting to get away from those chemical clog poring deodarants. I'm glad I purchased this book and I recommend it highly. I can't wait to make some hand creams and lip balms as well.Out of all the skin and body care books I own, I would say that if you can only get one book - get this one.
