Ever since a car accident I've have chronic back pain. I've had 12 surgeries on my back and nerves, and although they helped, it still left me in quite a bit of pain. I've tried just about every pain cream out there and here is what I've found with this one:It works best when you apply it before the pain hits. It's not like the other "instant gratification" creams that numb out the pain. This works slowly over time to help. It has no menthol or similar agent in it that just tingles to just mask the pain. This is not the first oil I've used from Pure Plant Essentials and I love them both. Just like the other oil, I found the best results when I applied this daily (sometimes twice a day if I was having bad pain). After several days I noticed a reduction in the sharpness of my pain. It's still there, this isn't a magical healing cream, but this took the edge off. Which if you've suffered from nerve pain, you know that can make a world of difference. I have pain pills, but when I'm on the go, or driving those aren't an option. And I honestly don't like taking them regardless of what I have going on that day. Yes, they help out with some of the pain, but they still don't take away all the pain, they make me drowsy and out of it, and I really hate that feeling. This oil has allowed me to back off the pain pills (I still need them on terrible days, but I'm no longer constantly looking for them). And like I mentioned about the other menthol based creams, those are great to take the pain away immediately, but they only last maybe an hour, and I end up smelling like a nursing home. This oil is much more convenient, is pro-active instead of reactive, and it doesn't have a super powerful scent that will stay with me all day.For the size of the bottle: It's somewhat small, but don't let the size fool you. It only takes a few drops of oil to cover my entire low back, so this bottle will be lasting me a while, at least for several months, which makes the price seem more of a value than first glance.The only reason I gave this specific oil 4 stars, is because I actually prefer it's "sister" oil from the same company. After trying both out for several weeks I felt like their "body ease" formula helped me out more than this one did. I have experienced intense sciatica pain during my last three pregnancies. The pain through my last pregnancy 9 months ago, was so bad that I often could hardly walk, bend down or turn over in bed. Let's talk about what this product doesn't do. It doesn't smell like old lady. None of that minty, overpowering Bengay or Icy Hot smell. Instead it has a light, herbal fragrance that's quite Pleasant to use and apply. It is very easy to use. has a flip cap, and you just shake it and squeeze a little bit in your hands, inhale and enjoy the fragrance, and then rub it into the affected area. The oil lasts long enough for you to be able to massage with it, but then it completely absorbs into your skin leaving skin soft and smooth. It's not limited to just providing sciatica pain relief. I have found it to be effective in treating some of my fibromyalgia pain. I also massage it into my neck, which is extremely painful for me most of the time. I have a health condition that requires me to take hydrocodone and muscle relaxers for my neck every day, and massaging the oil into it offers me some relief from that, and a break from taking such strong medication all day long.I received this in exchange for trying it out and reviewing its quality and performance. I believe you'll like it. The fragrance is very nice, and the herbal fragrance is suitable for both men and women. It definitely is not too flowery. I also like how it does not give me the uncomfortable feeling that a heavily mentholated product would. I don't like that Icy Hot feeling on my skin, and this product definitely does not have that.
