CONVENIENT, ECONOMICAL, SECURE (make sure all 4 notches snap together)
This a very good bath house for chinchillas. I find it superior to the hexagonal-cylindrical type bath houses made by other brands. I found that those bath houses aren't that good for my medium-large chinchilla. She doesn't seem to complete her roll as well in those. Also those are hard to clean. This bath house has a large opening that is suitable for medium to large chinchillas. They also cannot hide in it like the hexagonal-cylindrical ones. There have been complaints that the two halves do not stay together. This was my impression at first and I contemplated returning it, or fashioning some type of fastener to keep it together. However upon closer inspection the little plastic notches that fit the two pieces together are extremely small. You have to purposely snap the 4 notches until you hear them snap together. Once you have done this, it is very secure. You can shake and jig it about and they will stay together. It is lightweight which has the potential for being rolled over. I have a very strong and energetic chinchilla and while it has rocked a bit, it has not turned over yet.The dust that is thrown around is very manageable. I place it in the bathroom with the fan turned on. Clean up is easy with a broom and dust pan. You don't need to use much dust for this bath house. I use 5 scoops as directed on blue cloud dust. It should certainly last 1-2 weeks depending on your frequency. Also the large opening allows you to easily remove droppings. Always dump old dust when it is time to prevent skin infections such as ringworm fungus.Pros:+ Easy to clean+ Good for medium to large chinchillas+ Large opening, chinchillas cannot hide in it+ No risk of potential overheating+ Secure, once properly snapped in place+ Keeps dust in check relatively well (all bath houses will be messy)+ Uses a small amount of dust+ Easy to remove droppings from dust (shake and remove, as if you were panning for gold)Cons:- The plastic notches to secure the top and bottom are very small. This will explain why people complain that the two halves do not stay together. Once it is snapped together, the unit is secure.- The whole unit is lightweight. There is potential that a very vigorous chinchilla can knock it over. However I have not experienced this despite having a very active chinchilla. (You can try gluing some metal or weight on the bottom if you have this problem)Conclusion:This bath house is the best I've used yet. I've owned the hexagonal-cylindrical bath houses and used Sterilite storage containers in the past. The hexagonal-cylindrical ones keep the dust in a little bit better, but they are harder to clean. I personally find this one superior for larger chinchillas because of the larger opening. Storage containers and bowls allow the dust to escape everywhere. If you use a large container or bowl, you'll also need to add more dust because of the larger surface area. This bath house is just large enough for a big chinchilla to roll in so it uses less dust. I would buy this product again if needed.

Good design, practical, and easy to clean
Compared to the two other common chinchilla bath houses on the market (the plastic house and the ceramic chinchilla-shaped hut), this bath house is the best of both worlds for the chinchilla and the caretaker. For the chinchilla: This bath house is very roomy -- much roomier than what the product picture depicts. Two adult chinchillas can reasonably fit in the house at the same time, whereas two adult chinchillas in the other bath houses I've tried look as squished as chinchilla sardines. For the caretaker: The bath house is simple to clean and store in a drawer because the top and bottom are detachable, and the top half can fit into the bottom half. It's also very easy to get a chinchilla out of the bath house if he or she has been chilling in there for too long and you need them out -- just open the top and nudge them out. This is opposite to my experience with the plastic house, where the entrance is small enough that the chinchilla can resist hopping out for quite awhile (though can you blame them?).For the chinchilla and the caretaker: Because it only takes a few minutes to thoroughly wash the house, the chinchilla can always have a clean bath, and you can reduce the amount of dust and debris in the air post-chinchilla bath. As an extra bonus, although the angle of the house in the Amazon picture makes it look like a slipper, the house actually looks pretty sleek for pet product standards and is a refreshing alternative to some of the cute-sier products out there if cute is not your style. The only word of caution I have for potential buyers is if you leave the dust in the bath post-chinchilla bath, it seems like it's easier for dust to get into the air in the room because the entrance is on the top of the house and is bigger than other chinchilla houses. I'd recommend covering the hole or removing the dust after each bath, and then rinse and wipe down the chinchilla house. All in all, I'm very happy with this house and will continue to use it for my chinchillas.

Size matters...
Not all my chinchillas like this (I have 4) but the two that do appear to enjoy it a lot. The one that doesn't at all is the largest & oldest & perhaps is too used to an open dish rather than the closed in style. The other is iffy on it & I believe because it rocks a bit on the shavings surface. My only other comment is I don't think it would last if left in the cage - would be chewed to pieces in short order. However, that isn't a complaint, I knew what it was made of when I bought it & would buy it again.

Great litter tray for pet rats
Someone suggested using this as a litter tray as my pet rats were kicking the litter out of their normal tray. Works brilliantly and no more mess!
