Short, sweet and entertaining
This book is perfect for my 18 month old who LOVES animals and likes to make animal noises. It's a a good book to talk about these things with her, and she can join in when I ask her what each animal says. It is also just the right length to keep her entertained for the whole book so she doesnt waddle off and get the next one before I've finished!

nice book but I was disappointed- however...
After reading the raving reviews I expected something better. I wasunder the impression that the "singing pigs that go lalala" was a refrain that reappeared several times in the book making it really funny. This is not the case. I don't really see the humor I was expecting. It's a nice shiny colorful book but otherwise not very interesting. I find it a little too simple for my 18mo grandson. I think this would be better for a much younger child.I am adding a comment: despite my disappointment as far as this book is concerned, my grandson seems to love the part where " the 3 pigs go lalala". That's the only page he's interested in. I maintain my comment though, that this better for a younger child

Nothing to it, very boring, just animal noises to read.
I was expecting more from this book, I thought there would at least be a recurring theme of animalsSaying silly things but there is only one page where there is something other than just what noises animals make. It’s very short with nothing to really engage a 1 year old with, even with your best animal impressions.May possibly be enjoyed by slightly older children.I returned this item, there are so many more engaging books for a one year old.

Animal Poetry
Bought this following a recommendation from a friend who raved about how much her children loved this book. I'm not sure if I just missed the moment with my children but this just never caught their imagination in the same way as some of the other books that we've bought and loved. It is pleasingly short (for a tired parent)but provides lots of opportunities for involvement and interaction. My children could recite it by heart fairly quickly which showed a certain level of engagement but depite my best efforts (I really liked it and felt it held up well under constant repitition) it never made its way onto the regular request list.
