GP65NB60 8X USB 2.0 Super Multi Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer Drive +/-RW External Drive with M-DISC Support - Black

Nice

Works on my MacBook Air perfectly ! No extra software required, just plug and play! I especially needed to import some contents from CD, and this product does it so well!

Good quality. Recommended

Worked perfect with it

Very good 👍

Very good quality. Very handy. Highly recommend

Does the job so far

it is useful

Es como el SuperDrive de Apple, pero para PC. La mayoría de los lectores deben ser conectados a la corriente o usan dos puertos USB. Este solo ocupa uno y prácticamente solo conectas y usas. Verdadero Plug And Play.

Super CD\DVD burner and pretty fast!

The internal optical drive on my Mac Pro died; I could not find a direct replacement, so I decided to go for an external DVD burner, of which there are a great many from which to choose. There were a lot unfamiliar brands at attractive prices, but I decided to select the LG GP65NB60 since I have been well satisfied with a number of LG products over the years. It was a little more expensive than a lot of its competitors, but still very affordable. I received it before the scheduled delivery date, unpacked it, plugged it in and started to use it immediately. It comes with a setup DVD, but I never had to take it out of its packet. I use Toast Titanium 17 to burn DVDs and the standard Mac DVD Player App to replay them; both Apps support the GP65NB60 without any fuss. In a test case, Toast Titanium was able to burn a DVD at an average rate of 6X, reaching a peak speed of 8X. On the plus side, the drive is fast, extremely quiet in operation, uses only 5v from the USB data cable, very slim and compact, but has a durable housing. On the negative side, I was disappointed that it did not have a motorized disk tray. The tray is spring loaded, so you have to push it back manually into its housing in order to mount the disk.

I needed and external CD/DVD Read-Writer predominanltly for ripping DVDs and for me the must haves were (1) reputable main stream manufacturer (2) reasonable cost and (3) compact. The LG GP65NG60 fulfilled all of these requirements, and the "UGREEN USB C to Mini USB Cable High Speed USB 2.0 Type C to Mini USB 5 Pin Adapter 480Mbps Data Sync Charge Lead Compatible with Thunderbolt 3 MacBook " provided the elegant solution of direct interface between MAC and Drive. The MacBook Air M1 only has 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt interfaces, though I do have the Anker USB C PowerExpand 6-in-1 which gives me all the external interfaces I need, e.g. USB and USB-C and wired Ethernet. For DVD ripping and recoding to MP4, for putting on to an SD-card for projector playback, I went for the popular (and paid for) WinX DVD Ripper and WinX HD Video Converter. I also purchased the Windows versions for my Dell laptop. I've processed a number of DVDs now without any issues whatsoever. The ripper is fast, approx 15 mins for 4.7GB DVD rip using the recommended default MP4 profile, and the Video converter takes approx 20 seconds. Both packages I run using the apps "Use High Quality Engine". I'm extremely pleased with the LG drive, the gold option matches my Macbook quite well rather than the black option, and the WinX packages make life so uncomplicated.
