A Global History of Architecture

Comprehensive Architectural History
This book is amazing! I’ve bought lots of books claiming to contain the history of architecture but this is the first one to meet my expectations. Every page has good quality images and renderings of the layouts of buildings, top and side for the most part. Loads of explanations behind the design choices of the different eras and thinking of the different time periods. I bought the book as inspiration for level design layouts and the book doesn’t disappoint in this regard. I find myself often looking through the book and I’ve never been disappointed. It’s also a lot to read and take in, well worth the asking price!

Weighty tome.
Outstanding coverage of some of the most famous sites in the world. A go to book for those interested in architecture, placing sites in historical context. Some of the photographs not great but compensated by some interesting site drawings. Excellent text.Highly recommended. A weighty tome.

Fabulous GLOBAL history of architecture
This book is organized by time period, from 3500 BCE to the present, so that you can see what kind of building was going on all over the world during the same period of time. The beginning of each section has a world map with the sites labeled on it, with a facing page table showing the build dates and locations, followed by sections on each site complete with detailed maps, drawn site plans, photos, history and description. This really puts everything into historical perspective. I love it!

The book is amazing!
The book is amazing! For those who are sensitive about the book covers it wasn’t very clean, it seems it has been sitting on a shelf for a while, but who cares. I recommend it👍
