This is exactly what we needed to segregate foster dogs from the general population until they settle in. Based on the reviews, i had several concerns. all of which have been dispelled.Concern 1: the gate is too small. i have the same concern when i put it together. it really looks like it won't work. i had ignored the giant yellow alert sign on the gate that i said.. don't worry about the gate size; trust us. and proceeded to rant. but they are right. once you install it, everything just worksConcern 2: can't install due to having a baseboard. Because the top and bottom have separate mounting screws, the gate installed easily at different depths. The only way this wouldn't work is if your opening is s-under 30" (not including the baseboard).Concern 3: cheap looking. Someone complained about the middle not being real wood. i was worried it was plastic or something shoddy. it looks really nice.Concern 4: won't stand up to big excited dogs. I avoid pressure gates because the dogs can knock them over. This gate when screwed in tight has help thus far. But it also comes with screw in receptacles that the pressure cups sit in. this adds an extra level of security. i plan to install them today as a new dog is coming tomorrow. I will update with how that goesConcern #4: My husband hates the gates, because they make it hard to move his amps and other musical equipment. This causes us to have to uninstall reinstall gates whenever we get a new foster. This deign makes it easy to remove the gate when neededConcern #5: Sturdiness.. there's "sturdy enough for a toddler" then there's sturdy enough for a pack of labrador mixes. some gates just can't meet our needs. this gate is a steep frame - solid, and it can't be chewed up by a bored, teething puppyI just ordered 3 more of these gates. I love them9/24/19: update. the gate held when the new dog was being segregated. So much so that we decided to take one of them down. And thats when we ran int trouble. Although the directions clearly state to make sure the gate was carefully aligned, i only eye-balled it. Then when I tried to remove the gate, I had a bear of a time removed it. I couldn't get the bottom "sockets" out of the cup. Advice, don't just eyeball it... or else, don't use the cup/socket option

One minor quibble and the rest I love. And note, this is new. If the latching becomes problematic over time I will update. I bought two of these and based on my experience I am buying a third to replace a different model from another vendor that has a cranky latch.The packing was great. One box was damaged but everything inside was fine. Reading the instructions makes it seem more complicated, but you simply bolt the two main parts together at the bottom. Install the swinging gate by putting a pin in the bottom and inserting a loose pin into a hole at the top. Now either insert one or both extenders into the side, they just push on. With or without the extenders, insert the adjustment screws, they do not thread in.Place the unit in the area to be gated and start turning the middle plastic knob to force the adjustment screws out longer. Keep turning both sides, top and bottom until snug. Tighten the bottom pretty tight. If there is an uneven molding, you can lift it up a little. Adjust the top screws until the latch tongue is mostly inserted into the opening.That is it. Now peel off the warning sticker that says the gap is intentional. Say a thanks to the company for making the adhesive not too sticky as it peels right off cleanly. Now for the baby warning sticker, I guess they do not want you to remove it, perhaps for liability? I decided though it looks crap, I am leaving it on. It would take too long for me to remove all the adhesive and paper bits.As to the person who in the review mentioned it only opens one way. Nope! There are turnable locks on the bottom of the swinging gate that can stop the door from swinging through either way. If both locks are turned up, the door swings both ways. I find this to be a great feature as on one gate, I want it to swing both ways, the other gate I used one of the locks to limit the travel.So very happy. It feels solid and looks nice in my house. And now the rescue dogs will stay away from certain parts of the home.

This gate is great, nice look, well made and does the job. I like the fact you can turn the lock on the bottom to swing the gate either way or keep both lock and if by chance my grand children figure out how to unlock the top, the gate still will not open. Great gate - you will not be unhappy if you purchase this one.

My door opening is 38" exactly, so cannot use both extensions. The screws don't go far enough into the extension (design flaw) to allow it to do so. If the opening was maybe 38-3/4" or 39" then it would've worked with 2 extensions. I was able to fit it in the opening with only 1 extension, but the screws span so long that they bow downward when putting the required tension on the gate. It leaves a large 3.5" gap on the one side and a 3" gap on the other. Not perfect, but works and looks nice except for the long screws that look out of place.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this gate after looking through all the baby gates for one that could go on to metal piping on my stairs. I had to buy the extra end piece to make it work but it fit perfectly! I needed this gate because my dogs are terrible people and make messes downstairs at night if they have access. This gate will prevent that from happening.It is secure in this spot and I am happy with the way it looks. It blends right into my stairs and doesn’t look like a big ugly baby gate. Since I have to live with it from now on it was important to me that it didn’t look bad. This was easy to put together and it would have been easy to make smaller. This gate was also very reasonably priced for how nice it is.. the stickers did peel off without leaving a ton of residue behind if you go slow..
