Ambient and reflected sound can be a problem when recording acoustic and vocal tracks, especially in a "live" Studio environment. Block unwanted sounds from entering your microphone by using this microphone isolation shield from Monoprice! This acoustic shield features an acoustic foam front and a vented metal back plate, which allows the microphone to "breathe" And prevents reflections within the arc of the shield. It uses a dual clamp mounting bracket, which attaches to booms or stands up to 1 1/4" In diameter. The two outer panels can be folded inward for storage or for creating a tighter acoustic isolation chamber. The shield features a standard 3/8" Microphone threaded mount and includes a 3/8" To 5/8" Thread adapter. The shield can be used in a normal upright orientation or can be Inverted, so that the microphone hangs down inside the chamber. All assembly and mounting hardware is included.

THIS THING IS A MIRACLE WORKER !!
This thing is a miracle worker ! I was looking at more expensive options but decided to go with this Monoprice reflector and I'm glad I did. It came on friday and I just set it RIGHNOe and did a test recording and was amazed at how much better the sound came out. I had to come and do a review of it to help anyone out.Note: this thing is HEAVY. And you will need a heavy duty stand. The one I bought from Amazon is the post Audio heavy duty stand for $50. You will need it . Trust me. I had a 20$ mic stand that it would have toppled over the second it got on it. And the instructions it came with are not helpful. I went to to their website and looked at better pictures of the reflection and used the pictures as a guide to set this up. Also if you're a 5'4 120 pound girl like me, I suggest you get a helping hand. Haha I struggled setting this up by myself (it can be done but a helping hand will make it easier).I completely recommend this if you're just starting out your home studio and need something that's affordable but works GREAT.

Bad Product; Worse Customer Service
Cheaply-made product, and Monoprice's customer support is one of the worst I've ever experienced.I bought the shield through Amazon, and out-of-the box, I noticed that one of the rubber pads on the stand clamp was peeling up a little. The others seemed secure, so I brushed it off at the time. Within a couple of months, all 4 pads were peeling up, and the whole thing came crashing down one day (with a condenser mic attached to it) when one of the pads came completely off.At this point, I had the product 2.5 months, just barely longer than Amazon's return window (of course...). So I reached out to Monoprice directly. It took them over 6 weeks to respond to me. The customer service representative assured me this problem was not a common one. After way too much back and forth, he issued me a return label for the one I had, and said they'd issue a replacement as soon as it was received.2 months went by, and nothing. No emails, no package; no microphone shield, intact or broken. So I reached out again. After doing an "investigation" into what haopened, they issued me another one fairly promptly. (I was never sent shipping confirmation, tracking, or even a email that it was on the way.)Here's the kicker: again, straight out of the box, one of the rubber pads was barely hanging by a thread (photo attached; note the bubble wrap from having literally just unpacked it).Again, I had been told earlier this wasn't a common issue by the rep, and when I reached back out to tell him I'd received one with the same issue, HE STRAIGHT UP TOLD ME TO USE A GLUE GUN ON IT! I was seriously shocked. And I told him so. Was Monoprice's official stance, "I guess our product IS that cheaply made! You should use a stronger adhesive than we do to fix the product that we sent to you already broken!"?! He told me "didn't have much else to work with." I asked that my case be forwarded to a supervisor, because I was shocked at the horrible resolution of my issue. He apologized and assured me his supervisor would be reaching out to me later that day. That was almost a week ago, and no word yet...This product seems durable enough if you were able to trust the pads to stay on. But I've got a 2/2 record that says they won't. And Monoprice clearly has no faith in their own product if they're comfortable with telling customers to use a glue gun on a brand new product as a solution.Selling it for what I can get and investing my time and money in a more reliable product and company.

Minor build issues are outshined by how amazing the sound shield performs
As many others have stated it is rather heavy and it would have been nice to have a thread adapter for smaller microphones, but for actual sound isolation I have no complaints whatsoever. My podcast audio is crisp and clean despite the fact that I am recording in the middle of my living room.It was very easy to setup requiring only the edge of a quarter to screw everything together, and mounts easily onto any gear pole that can handle the load. The pads on the back clamps are very weakly glued on - one came off the second I tried to slide it into position - but it was easily fixed. But these are minor complaints. For the price I paid and for how good it makes me sound, I would happily buy it again.

Monoprice Microphone Isolation Shield + Audio-Technica AT2020 microphone = sex
Looks sexy and professional. Its heavy and needs a heavy stand. This thing does exactly what it is supposed to do and it does it superbly.Build quality is nice, it feels solid and you can kill elephants with this thing, if needed. I love elephants though.(L) to Amazon too for delivering almost a week earlier.Nothing else to say other than i recommend this Monoprice mic isolator to everybody who is looking for something like this.
