KNIPEX00 20 04 V01 Set of Circlip Pliers

As a engineer by trade, I generally only purchase professional/ semi-professional grade tools as, in the long term, they do not really work out to be any more expensive than cheaper tools which inevitably fail and need replacing more often. I would also rather have better performance and reliability from the outset.This weekend I needed some small circlip pliers and spotted several sets manufactured by Knipex. I have owned wire cutters made by this brand for many years and they have proved to be reliable. Hence, this seemed like a very simple and safe purchase from a good quality German brand and decided to go for the large set with both 1.3 and 1.8mm tips.However, after selecting the pair I needed to complete my task, I quickly found that the jaws were virtually seized and the tips were distorted both in terms of alignment to each other, but also along their short length. I needed no more than 1.3mm diameter (their stated size) to fit the cir-clip holes, but due to ‘flaring’ at the tip ends they would not fit.I tried to complete my task with another, less suitable, pair of pliers within the set, but these had 1.3mm tips which we splayed outwards too far in relation to each other and thus would not fit my cir-clips. After closely inspecting all 8 pairs of pliers and measuring their tip diameters against their stated specification (quantity 4 at 1.3mm and quantity 4 at 1.8mm) I found that 3 pairs of the 1.3mm tip had size problems along their length. I also found another pair of pliers with virtually seized jaws, more cases of tip/jaw misalignment and several crooked tips. Overall I was only content with 3 of the 8 pairs of pliers from £111 set.In desperation, I was then forced to try to complete the task with a Sealey AK8451 Internal/External Professional Circlip Pliers. These are big, clumsy and heavy pliers which are far from ideal for precision work, but at least the tip set are all perfect. Overall the job took 10 times longer than it should and I will be returning the Knipex set – very disappointing and a huge waste of my time!

Dieses Werkzeug ist maßhaltig und gerade für kleine Sicherungsringe geeignet.Mit Billigwerkzeug ärgert man sich nur rum.Gutes Werkzeug für gute Arbeit.

Bis jetzt halten die Spitzen und haben sich nicht verbogen .
