We needed a thermometer to measure the temperature of jam while cooking in 16-20 qt pots. The long probe and waterproof design is perfect for keeping your hand away from the hot (sometime popping) jam and the waterproofing gives me confidence that the steamy environment won't degrade the performance.

I use this for the grill, or inside when cooking in a skillet or oven. It shows the temps of different areas so you know where to stir the food, or move it around.

I make cheese and other items constantly so I need a good, quick reading probe. The 4 little buttons are labelled but (if you need reading glasses and most of us of age 45 do) you will need them to see which button is which. Even with readers on it is hard to read the control buttons. Also, it takes a long time to reach the temperature of the actual item you are checking. Not a quick read by any means.Pros: Seems very accurate, and I love the extra long probe, esp for deep pots. Easy to use. Has its own case. Inexpensive.Cons: Takes a long time to get the reading, small print on controls, and has no clip to attach to pots.

Nice product

Took it out of the package and was using it to monitor the temp of some mash I was making for home brew beer. The temp was pretty low, between 140-170 F at any given time. I used it on and off over a period of 2 hours. By the end the device wouldn’t turn on reliably, and would turn itself off if I hit the button to convert from C to F. Don’t waste your money

It's cheap and takes 20 seconds to get a reading but it works and the reading is accurate. I'm happy with it.

Very slow reading due to air gap between the probe and the metal housing. Adding thermal conductive paste will improve response.Quite sloppy mechanical construction, opens quite easily...
