how loud is the alarm

The sound of the alarm is louder than I expected, but not scary loud. It is a 'beep, beep, beep' , and the cadence increases until you turn it off.

does turning on the Travel lock mean that the clock is off and you will have to reset the time upon destination?

No. This would be the case with most clocks whereby you would need to remove the batteries to prevent accidental button pressing. The travel lock means you do not need to reset the time, everything remains the same, just the buttons are no longer operable. Note that the alarm, if set, will still go off!

What size batteries does this take? How is it powered?
