Morinaga Hi-chew - 8Flavor pack

I originally bought this for my family to share, just for fun. The candies came in a small plastic wrapping inside of a box. Upon opening, the tiny containers looked normal- open from the side of the package, like Americans do. The design was a lot more clever than that- they had a small ribbon at the top that could be ripped, keeping the paper wrapping in a box like shape but still allowing the candies to fall to fall out when tapped. Very genius and leaves less waste, so a good couch candy as well as efficient.The candies themselves were great. There were about 8 in each pack, but everyone hounded over them like a pack of starving wolves. They were very chewy and the flavor lingered for a long time, very similar to "now and laters", but much better quality and attention to flavor. The following flavors as rated from picky children-Strawberry - Tastes more like strawberry cream with a tang. Chewy and very sweetGrape - Its grape, just average candy grape favorOrange (Mikan)- Almost tastes like orange juice, reminds them of SunnyDPineapple - Very sweet but still somehow pineapple tasting, fan 'flavor'iteCola - Tastes like cola, but overly sweet compared to real soda. Somehow has carbonated bubbles?White Soda - In Japan, white soda is a soda made with cream. This one is my favorite. Its cream flavor goes very well with the sweetnessLime Soda (Lime Squash) - You can almost taste the carbonation, it tastes exactly like SpriteGreen Apple - Decent. Tastes like normal green apple candyOverall, I would recommend this candy to others. Sent this to my friend for her to try as well. If you enjoy chewy candies,, a must try.

For anyone that hasn't tried Hi-Chew they are the BEST candy money can buy in my eyes. The taste is unlike anything else u can buy! My personal favorite are the grapes as to me they taste almost identical to white grape juice, so delicious! They all seem to be made out of real fruit as even with he kiwi there are actually small particles of kiwi in it. I haven't noticed those particles in the other flavors but they are all wonderful that I've tried. I bought this particular pack because it has flavors that they just don't make here in the U.S. yet. I did notice that these ones that aren't made here were definitely softer then the U.S. ones. I haven't had a Hi-Chew flavor yet that I didn't like though I do prefer the regular ones vs the Hi-Chew Sours even though I do enjoy your stuff. They are all definitely good but I just think the taste of the regular flavors are just so intense that no other candy can compare. That being said the Hi-Chew Sours are still better then other candies. I never ate all that much candy till I discovered this brand as the taste is just wonderful! And if you are a Hi-Chew fan then I do think these ones are worth trying as some of the flavors are very original. I'll definitely be buying these again though like I said before that the grapes are my personal favorite but that's just my taste preference...

Shipping was QUICK. The flavors I received was:The pieces are roughly twice the size of the USA version.I would reorder without a doubt ... as now they are almost gone. Next time I am not going to open them with my family around. These are the times I wish I was not taught to share with others wink wink.Flavors received:STRAWBERRY: I have to say I still do not care for the Strawberry flavor.GRAPE: Wow, smelled before you put it in your mouth. It tastes stronger than USA flavor but still good.GREEN APPLE: Blows the USA version out of the water. The flavor is so intense & you have no doubt this is an apple.PINEAPPLE: The flavor is not overpowering. You know you are chewing a piece of pineapple, without all the juice.ORANGE: It tastes like you actually bit into an orange. Flavor great!MIKAN: Tastes like 7-Up Lemon/Lime soda. While chewing you keep waiting for the bubbles from actual soda to start. The flavor is really enjoyable and refreshing.WHITE SODA: These are amazing as well. Pleasant flavor and where are the bubbles? Delicious.COLA: Just like the Mikan flavor, you just expect to have bubbles in your mouth. You have no doubt you are chewing a Coke soda.

Quite pricey..But I love Morinaga and at least one time I had to try as many flavors as I could. I'm a big fan of this flavor pack, and they came very fresh which I was worried about when ordering online. The green apple and grape taste almost identical to the American versions, but have a different color scheme to them. This strawberry flavor is even better than the American version, and looks awesome too. it has a creamy sweet flavor and has a speckled color.The cola is different but pretty good. The white soda tastes just like cotton candy & soda water! and the lemon squash tastes like squirt/mountain dew! The orange is one of my favorites so far, its very mild but tastes like authentic oranges, not just artificial orange flavor. And same goes for the pineapple. We need all Morinaga flavors in USA!!These flavors are great. Its a bummer - I wish I could make it last forever, as each pack only has 7 pieces :/ and 1 of each has to go to my close family lol because I got them into this candy and they'd like to try them as well. But, its well worth it...at least one time. I probably wont be purchasing anymore unless I stumble onto cheaper prices.For any of my fellow Morinaga addicts, if you are desperately trying to find your next Morinaga fix - try Costco! They have a big bag of about 150-200 pieces with 4 standard flavors, grape/greenapple/strawberry/mango. The bag is about $8-9. Thats worth a Costco membership on its own, am I right?! lol but very good price, unfortunately no unique flavors. I'm not sure about Sam's Club, I will check and update my review. Thanks for reading.
