Dover The Hunchback of Notre Dame

This novel resurrected the public's interest in medieval architecture, and has been credited with single-handedly saving churches like Notre Dame--one can see why. There are long, expository tracts about art, architecture, the nature of humankind and knowledge--I understand why this novel is often abridged and the story of Esmerelda is focused on. Having seen many movie versions of this book (the best, I think being the silent), I was unprepared for the ending, which I had to read many times over to make sure I'd got it right. Heart-wrenching.

I ordered this and it arrived within the next business day! I was shocked but have been reading ever since and can't put it down. I'm not done yet but I've always wanted to read this! Excellent service, would definitely recommend.

Recently bought this book under the impression it was to be the illustrated verwion by David Hughes. As is shown for product image.

I chose this book for two of my grandsons when they are a bit older. I know it's a great book translated into many languages.
