Toolwiz Inner Tie Rod Removal Tool 3/8" Universal Low Profile 30-42mm

Used this to remove an inner tie rod on a 2006 r50 mini. Couldn’t get the track rod off I think was the original one. Didn’t even know about this tool until I had the issue. Was sceptical because some people have had bad experiences with the tool not working. Fitted the tool over the nut and checked before trying to undo the nut. Undid the nut with no issues so for the price it’s earned its cost. Even if I don’t use it again it was worth it. So 5 stars

This is a very good tool. I’ve replaced inner tie rods before using other tools- this is simpler and better. Made removing an inner tie rods with pretty poor access pretty straightforward and the tool is good to be used again. I’m not quite sure what other reviewers have done to damage the teeth- I suspect they may be over tightening. Would definitely recommend for the home mechanic.

Perfectly usable if you’re only planning to do one to several tie rods. However, you must have plenty of extension bars handy to get clearance of the wheel arches if you want to free a tight inner rod. Must be tightly attached, and the teeth deform quickly. Check you have clearance to access the drive. Be extremely careful not to apply off-axis force to the steering rack; in our case we supported the head of the breaker bar when twisting to ensure the force was rotational rather than shearing or bending. We attached the tool to the 30mm hex on the inner tie rod where it connects to the steering rack, and it fit well. I recommend looking at the tube-style tie rod removal tools as an easier, more secure alternative. The first time using this tool was quite frustrating, as it was initially slipping and didn’t feel like a comfortable job until we had an established system for the second inner tie rod and secured the nuts tightly. That said, for the price, it’s a handy tool and will help you save money doing the job at home if you’re not looking to use it often. It's sturdy enough and the build quality is sufficient for its purpose for the odd job.

Handy tool, got me out of a scrap. Make sure its fitted correctly before use otherwise it will slip and shear grips

Quite fiddly but did do the job. Removal wasn't easy but was able to get the tie rod off using the tool. I would suggest using an adjustable wrench if space allows. Build quality was good. Good to keep in the tool chest for future.

This definitely requires getting it into place and tightening the nuts every time you need to turn the tie rod, but this works like a charm without any quality issues. My tie rods were really tight and a normal tube-style extractor would not work. I required this and an extra extra long set of wrenches to get it off. It must have required at least 200 lb ft of force to get it off and it worked! After all was set and done, I did not see any visible marks that the metal was warping or any issues with the materials at all. I also did not have any issues getting this tool into place, although I did have to loosen it about twice every 20 degrees or so until i could loosen it by hand. Overall good little tool that I hopefully do not have to use for at least another 200K miles.

I used this inner tie rod removal tool on my 2014 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD, and it worked really well. It made removing the inner tie rod much easier and saved me a lot of time and effort. Very useful tool for DIY repairs, especially when working in a tight space. Definitely worth having.
