A definitive 1980s version of Cobra Cmdr.
Any fan of the 1980s GI Joe cartoon will definitely want to get this figure. The two interchangeable heads give fans both of the classic looks for Cobra Commander--metal mask and hooded mask. Yes, I know the uniform Cobra Commander wore with his hooded mask in the original cartoon was slightly different and a darker blue, but let's be honest--that costume was always secondary to the metal masked Commander. And the best thing about this figure is the metal mask is painted with a reflective material and it is not just a dull gray or silver paint like every other 3.75" figure in the past. Another cool feature is the helmet is not glued on to the head like past figures, so if you want to display a "bald" Commander next to a shiny headed Destro so they can exchange chrome dome polishing tips, go for it.The body sculpt and paint is fantastic as well. The hands are sculpted with the fingers apart, allowing for him to grasp his signature sidearm as well as some interesting poses. The chopper backpack is also a great playable accessory that comes with two biohazard bombs (because a regular bomb wouldn't be dickish enough for the Commander), allowing for the Commander to make his typical last minute escape from the Joes. The only drawback to this figure is the price; the original retail price at a "big box" store should be somewhere in the $9 dollar range like the other Joe figures, but seemingly the only place left to get him now is on the secondary market. I managed to get mine for $14.95 w/ s&h, so happy hunting because this is one must have figure for any GI Joe fan.

Almost perfect Cobra Commander.
I'm starting to think Hasbro intentionally makes at least one thing wrong with these just so they can keep selling more of the same character with slight improvements. Mine came with some kind of clear glue-like substance on the left leg covering part of the holster and some scuff marks, many times their figures aren't in mint condition right out of the package. This is probably isolated though, but the other flaw is probably on every one, the ankles. The feet snap into 2 positions and only swivel up and down, but neither position is a proper standing position. The figure would either lean forward or back unless you position the legs differently. I don't understand why they haven't perfected this by now. Everything else about the figure is great, it would just be nice if they could get these things ironed out once and for all.

Bought this based on pictures and all the reviews here saying it was the best CC figure
This is the first GI Joe action figure I've bought as an adult, and I played with the original CC back in the early 1980s, so that is my frame of reference. Was just feeling nostalgic and had some new display space. Bought this based on pictures and all the reviews here saying it was the best CC figure. The plastic and extra points of articulation make me feel like I will break this. It definitely wouldn't have lasted when I was a kid.The foot holes don't fit on the peg in the stand. I think the peg is too tall for it. It doesn't fit at all. Tried whittling the peg down a bit but didn't want to shave off too much. Got the peg down to where it fits snugly but the ankle joint isn't really strong enough to hold him up stably. The gun doesn't stay in hand very well at all and it falls out at the touch. It does look great and I am only going display it anyway, so it'll do but I think I'll stick to looking at pictures when I'm feeling nostalgic for old toys.I do love the two head options and would have loved the usable holster with removable knife as a kid.The helipack is also very cool and I love how the bombs fit into the compartment.

Swappable heads makes this one a must have
First off, I love the ability to swap heads on this figure, though the paint scheme of the suit is a few shades of blue lighter than it ought to be. If not for that, there'd be precious little to complain about, as the included helicopter backpack is a very nice bonus. I'm not big on the toxic bomblets or whatever those things are, nor do I see the Commander risking life and limb flying about a combat site in a body rig like the heli-pack. Still, it works great for expendable lower ranking figures like your basic Viper, and when I get a few minutes, I intend to use it as updated equipment for my work-in-progress Iron Grenadiers Annihilator figure. Given that the price is still reasonable, I'd recommend adding this figure to any collection. Oh, and articulation is modern standard; none of that five points of articulation nonsense we're starting to see with more recent Hasbro releases, thankfully.
