Saggio. Ma anche autobiografia
"No time to lose" è un saggio, ma anche l'autobiografia di uno dei più grandi epidemiologi viventi. Che si rivela anche un grande scrittore. Appassionante. Coinvolgente

No time to lose -timely reminder in the the age of covid
As someone who once filtered with the idea of a medical career but who instead was seduced by the mysteries to be solved in biomedical research I found Piot’s account of infectious disease research (Ebola and AIDS) timely in the age of covid. It’s both entertaining and educational, revealing the challenges of working in this dangerous world whilst beset by the difficulties of working with many national and international agencies too frequently too concerned with process rather than outcomes. The writing style is both amusing and witty but very much from the heart. Such a pity that some of the lessons learnt here are being relearned daily in the papers with covid.

Excellent book.
Dr. Piot's book is a great account of his experience during the discovery of the Ebola virus and the HIV crisis when it first began. His accounts are sometimes sombering, other times humorous, and very interesting.

along with feeling great compassion for the poor souls who contracted such a ...
This is a fascinating, if scary, account of the race to find the source of the apocalyptic Ebola virus. Peter Piot has travelled to so many places researching some of the most deadly viruses known to mankind.I read the Hot Zone a long time ago, and it was terrifying, but I remember ,along with feeling great compassion for the poor souls who contracted such a horrific virus, I was lulled into a false sense of security thinking that awful as it is, it was highly unlikely to reach the Western World. How wrong can you be? This is a fast paced, thoroughly absorbing account of virology at it's most terrifying- a real page turner.
