Q: When this is set up as a horizontal platform, what is the actual usable length, i.e., between the base and vertical handle?

My hand truck is in storage, so I can't give an actual measurement. However, when I was moving, it fit three Banker's Boxes (width-wise) between the "foot" and the handle when set up as a horizontal platform. I did find the handle a little difficult to latch when turning it into a horizontal platform--the holes were difficult to line up. Still, I was so glad to have it for my move.

Q: Do you have assemble anything when the hand truck comes from Amazon?

Just got one - and, yes, assembly is required. You'll need a 9/16-inch socket wrench, and do not tighten the four bolts except as indicated in the instructions (i.e., wait until the last step.). No, a child couldn't do the assembly, and expect this to take about 20 minutes, but it's pretty easy with the right tools.

Do not recall the length and width, but I do recall that this product was defective twice, the first time when we received it and the 2nd time on the exchange that we ended up returning.

Q: what is the wheel rim made of?

small wheels are plastic, Large wheels are solid rubber and hard plastic.
