I was expecting something a little different based on description. It definately not a book that covers all lyrics. But it is more and over all history and how her music resonates during her period of time. Writer is very thorough though from a music stand point also giving his perspective of what he thinks Some of her lyrics may be about. I would be courious to know what Melissa Etheridge about it on the personal commentary perspective. I think from a historical music perspective she might find it interesting to see how her music was perceived and how it contributed to the time spanning her career which continues!!! I am a late comer , but a devoted fan of her music and of her as well.!!

A good book for reference rather than a good read, dip into it every now and then for illuminating insights into Carole's music.

This book chronicles every song from every album that she's made so far. It gives a very detailed annotated description of the meanings and influences behind her songs. Melissa is a true artist who's lived every song she's written " she's walked the walk" which makes her a very human very honest woman who's lived and loved and made mistakes but has grown from what she has learned. From her relationships that were always in the public eye and breakups to her battle and triumph over breast cancer she is a survivor.
