The New Spiritual Exercises: In the Spirit of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Outstanding "New Spiritual Exercises" by Louis M.l Savary
This book not only makes Teilhard de Chardin's wisdom accessible to all, but is a new way of looking at the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. It is a book to pray over and experience the transformation that "The New Spiritual Exercises" will make in your life. Our reflection group will be using it next year, but I am praying over it now and sharing some thoughts in my daily blog. The first part explains the basic principles of Chardin's thought and teaching. We are all called to positive activity in building up the Body of Christ, furthering the evolution of the universe, by using the gifts we have received. The essential Ignatian Exercises are given with new language, new ways of looking at the meditations, but alway with growing intimacy with Christ. Savary has made a contribution to contemporary spirituality with this book. I would like to see a Kindle edition to travel with it.More can be found on my blog: Reflections of an RSCJ

Clearest and very well-written guide for doing the Spiritual Exercises
I've completed the Exercises with my women's group as well as formally with a big group & spiritual director. I have a few other books on the Exercises, and none compare with this one for the clarity and relevance to our era. I strongly recommend it.

New spiritual exercises for our global village.
The inspired writings of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, once condemned by Rome, are here used in a practical way for today's look at the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. Our world is very different from the way it was in the days when Ignatius first proposed his seminal work. The content of this present "transposing" of such a powerful spiritual tool, for me, brings Ignatian directions into today. We now exist in a large global village. The author, Louis M Savary, speaks of God's "Christ Project",for a refreshing understanding of Creation and who we are meant to be in this cosmic evolutionary process. A new awareness of the reality of today's scientific and other human developments, insights and discoveries, must awaken our consciousness to God's continual revelation in Christ , in a cosmic world.A possible spiritual and attitudinal change could erupt in the reader.

Well worth getting
OK, I've now bought my 6th copy of this book. I can't seem to hang on to them. I give them to friends, who all agree with me that this is an excellent book that articulates well the principles of Teilhard de Chardin's evolutionary vision with its future-oriented hopeful spirituality. And equally well applies these principles to Ignatius Loyola's Spiritual Exercises, bringing them into the 21st century. Savary reveals a deep understanding of both Teilhard and of the Spiritual Exercises that makes this book worth reading and meditating on. Great book.
I enjoyed the way this book is arranged. The difference from the usual Spiritual Exercises is marked but easy to understand and to "fit" to the pattern of the Traditional Exercises. It would be easy for an experienced director to use this as a resource when directing the Exercises, either as it stands, or by incorporating the content into the Traditional Exercises, depending of the leanings of the retreatant. The differences in focus are subtle at times however, and I would recommend it for use with someone making the Exercises for the second or third time.

Vehicle to Deeper Experience of the God's Universe
This book and its content bears the fullness of the reviews I had read earlier. The author carries Ignatius' Spiritual Exercises farther out into endless possibilities of the Universe and its clues to the experience of God and God's certain love of us all.

Content excellent. Page format not so much.
The book is excellent. The kindle format does not have pages so is hard to use while doing the exercises. "Location" is rather useless. I wish Kindle would keep "pages" for navigating and referencing where you are in the book.

The perfect, easy to understand approach to sciences and theology
Just what is needed for today. The perfect, easy to understand approach to sciences and theology. Religion is not opposed to sciences. We are the ones who "narrow and box" religions to suit us. It is for believers of all faiths as well as for those with no belief. Great book. It should be made accessible to all teachers and students.
