We will never know. Dandre claim he was Pavlovas legal husband and he certainly followed her through sickness & health; fortune and ruin. But other sources suggest that no marriage certificate ever existed and that Pavlova's beautiful London home Ivy House, was not left to Dandre as a consequence. Sharing nearly all Pavlovas adult life , as her manager, tour organiser and "husband", no-one was more qualified then, than Dandre ,to write a truly honest and penetrating account of Pavlova's life and psyche?This book details so many of her tours, her costumes, her perfomances and her life in Rusia before she met Dandre(presumably previously disclosed to him by Pavlova). This book has plenty of information but never really delves beyond that surface.There are many captivating b+w plates of Pavlova, her pets, and her company .But it seems this man who should know Pavlova more than anyone; who spent so much time with her has decided to keep the veil of mystery around their life and mysterious relationship intact.It may have been what she would have wanted...we will never know and Dandre isn't telling us!Worth having in your collection but it isn't going to make you feel like you, "know" the subject.The original comes in a blue slip case and is nice to have.
