Excellent Resource from a Local Perspective
As someone who lives in Montana and frequently visits Glacier and Waterton Lakes, this book is an invaluable resource providing ample information to make a trip to both the parks enjoyable and memorable. Becky highlights the best locations to hike and soak in the stunning scenery ranging from short, easy outings to more rigorous adventures. She also details the necessary gear to handle our fickle and sometimes wicked weather, which is so important for those who aren't used to hiking in 80 degrees one minute to putting on every layer because of a mid-summer snowstorm the next. Besides detailing the hikes, she covers the necessities from where to stay, the best places to eat, along with recommendations for activities and facilities just beyond the park's borders. Overall, Becky packs a tremendous amount of information into this perfectly sized book and it is a must have for any visit to Glacier or Waterton.

A First Time Glacier Bible
We decided to go to Glacier this summer and I'm glad we bought this book. There was a load of helpful tips that saved us time and getting a camp spot. We were going to head up from southern Montana on Saturday but the book suggested getting there early or just after the weekend. We waited a day, drove up Sunday and the campsite was only about 25% full, but the park ranger said that the day before they were at capacity and turning people away. Other tips were great for the Going-to-Sun road and overall really added to our enjoyment of the park.

Very informative!!
This is the best National Park guide I have ever read! Ms. Lomax captures every detail about Glacier NP, including suggestions of the best places to visit in each area of the park, detailed descriptions (including maps) of individual hikes, and tips to avoid crowds, just to name a few. So if you're looking for basic information re hours of operation, current road conditions, etc., you can find that on the NP website (as the reviewer below noted). But if you're looking for a deep dive, this book is for you.In short, you will not regret purchasing this guide. It's completely invaluable if you're travelling to Glacier.

Perfect book to plan a trip to GNP!
Whenever we plan a "big" vacation, we do a lot of research. We usually start by taking books out at the library and then order the ones we really like. Well, all the GNP books at our library were out so we bought this and hoped for the best. It is PERFECT!!! Breaks down all the different areas of GNP, along with must-sees, lodging recommendations, hiking descriptions, and more. I even emailed the author with a question and she got right back to me with an answer AND additional information! Can't wait for our vacation!!!

I cannot say enough good things about this book
My husband and I went to glacier this past summer and could not have done it without this book! I am the ultra-planner in my family and always go above and beyond to plan for every scenario. This book put my mind so much at ease. I was able to plan our week of hiking and adventuring, AND our backpacking trip all out of this book. And let me tell you I HAVE NEVER HAD A NATIONAL PARKS ADVENTURE GO SO SMOOTHLY. We have been all over the country and used multiple guidebook brands but Moon is amazing. I don't know if it's because my mind just works well with this format but I HIGHLY recommend.

Sadly out of date
We successfully made it to GNP but this beautiful book was of little help. We could not appreciate the weather conditions encountered (June snowstorms delayed us one day), massive flooding, the vast distances between east and west parts of the park (over one hour), the joy found in focusing on one side of the park (westside kept us plenty busy!).The book was printed before the REQUIRED TICKET SYSTEM went into place so no mention of the pitfalls of getting onto the Going to the Sun Road, etc. (the reservation system must be engaged a minimum of 6 months in advance for success least you leave your luck up to the lottery). The pictures in the book all were taken during the peak tourist months and I am so glad we came pre-peak season despite the adverse weather because I could not have managed parking, crowds, etc. as easily.Bottom line: beautiful book for tourism but poor for planning a trip to the lovely GNP!

Vague and general information
I'm somewhat disappointed in this book. General information that can be found with a simple google search. Examples include: Be at Logan Pass before 8:30 am for a parking spot, gas isn't available in the park; be prepared for driving narrow, 2 lane roads. I'm disappointed and so far have found no useful information for planning my visit. Save yourself some money and do a few google searches. I actually found more useful information on the internet.
