Banana Plugs – 5 pairs

Pros: Solid construction. Cons: Doesn't fit any of the binding posts I have in my home stereo system. I tried with two different amps and speakers. Fits none of them. I think the manufacturer/ seller should mention in their ad that these aren't of the standard measurements for banana plugs.

I had ordered these with high hopes. Had seen a few reviews that said these do not fit most binding posts. The good points - solid stuff with twin screws to hold the cables. I don't have a micro ohm meter but showed virtually zero resistance on my DMM. Excellent finish. Don't like naked plugs but not easy to get quality insulated plugs. Can cover these with heat shrink sleeves. The bad point is as I feared it did not fit any of the binding posts sockets I have. Klipsch speakers did not accept these plugs. Also my amps did not take these. Another set of binding posts from Parts Express (bought through Amazon.ae) also did not take these plugs.. I wanted to return these but having already fitted them, didn't want to do or Amazon may be passing this to someone else who will buy unsuspecting of this issue. I had to squeeze the springs to make them go into the sockets. Very bad design KabelDirekt.. All my other banana plugs fit the sockets I have snug but without having to use my pliers to squeeze them.

Easy to insert the cables into them, and they're color coding is neat and simple, definitely good quality. However, I'm taking 2 stars off for how absolutely annoying the plug tips are.. They require a decent bit of pressure to plug in. Had that issue with 3 different speakers and 2 different amps, so it's not an equipment issue. A different set of plugs I have plug in smooth as butter. That's my only gripe with these.

First time order: I like these banana plugs. They are well made and solid. I even received one extra screw. The only issue I had is that one of them would not accept the screws. On inspection, the holes were not threaded on just this one. Otherwise a 5 star product. Update: 5 stars for sure! The manufacturer is very quick to respond and totally satisfied my issue with the one un-tapped plug. I've continued to buy more of these and will do so in the future. Subsequent orders: In all of my orders after that first one, the screws are pre-installed so they've eliminated the risk of an untapped hole escaping. What really sets these apart for me is that they accept larger gauge wire than competitors and the set screws (grub screws) have better more consistent slotting - important since the torque to ensure good contact with the wire can be hard to achieve with shallow-slotted screws I've seen on some competitor's plugs. Additionally - the decorative polarity coding ring doesn't interfere with the screws - important when using heavy gauge cable. (some competitors require their screws to be flush with the body in order for their decorative sleeve to work which limits the wire thickness to somewhat less than the id of the connector) Photo is an example of a bi-wire cable I made using these KabelDirekt banana plugs & techflex, on some old Tara Labs prism 2+2 I had laying around.
