Yes it is for the Savage 340 rifle.

Does this mount in the 2 pre drilled rearward holes on the left side of the receiver on a savage 340 30-30?

Yes. My 340 is drilled for the factory side mount as well as the receiver sight . The scope mount uses all but the two rear holes and the receiver sight fits in those . Because of the way the Williams sight is built both can be mounted at the same time . Not all were so drilled , some only had the two that are just forward of the rear of the action , this sight fits either .
