Theories of Development: Concepts and Applications (6th Edition)

I never thought I would ever bother rating a textbook, but it was awesome! I have little interest in development beyond what is required by my education program, but I enjoyed reading the book. It is well written, conveys important information, and is easy to read. I considered purchasing after my rental but it was too much for me just to have a reference.

This is a great book! I teach courses in educational and developmental psychology for educators. I bought this book as a reference. It is used in a class that I may take, because I sometimes need renewal credits to keep up a teaching license. The text devotes a chapter on many of the major contributors in developmental psychology. I was very familiar with many of them. However, I still learned some things about these contributors and was reminded of things that I had forgotten. There were a very few that were lesser known and less familiar that were not discussed as much in my own education. As an instructor, I will be using this book as a reference. I will reread sections of it again, I am sure.

This is a must read for anyone interested in development theories. It covers a wide range of theories in simple language. I had to get it for a class and actually enjoyed reading it. I feel like I learned a lot!

The book was informative and interesting. Used it for a class. I was disappointed when it arrived brand new with a crease on the front cover. Disappointed with the packaging of a high priced book.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS BOOK! Theories of Development is exactly what the title implies. This book breaks down the theories of different developmentalists in a very clean cut way. It is also a nice sized book. Easy to read. I would recommend this to anyone in school or out of school. The world should know these theories. Will buy again (had to sell my copy, needed the money).

The condition and the fast delivery on all my orders

I like Crain's discussion of the theories, but I found myself wishing the book had a few pictures to liven it up. It is a lot of text and I thought some sidebars of how to apply it to teaching, counseling, etc would help.
