Perfect for adults and kids who are beginner students.
PERFECT for beginners and kids.I got popped in my face with my real nunchuck and both my kids are afraid to actually practice with the wooden ones we bought from our dojo because they popped themselves in the head with it.The pain I felt from popping myself in the face sent me on here looking for foam covered nunchucks that I never knew existed. Purchased them and they are the same size as regular nunchucks and they are a piece of plastic covered with foam so it’s about the same weight as our real nunchucks. My kids used them today and have gained enough confidence to overcome their fears of hurting themselves and instead use their energy into practicing their coordination needed to use these. They can return to the real ones whenever they need to or just stick with these.I feel like dojo’s should actually have people purchase these instead of the real ones especially when practicing the skills and coordination required or especially when teaching kids. There’s no way I can improve these and therefore I cannot deduct any stars.Thank you for making these.

Not good for adult students
Little kids might find these useful. Adults who want to learn but want to do so safely will find them mostly useless.First, they are way too light. As another reviewer pointed out, you can fix that, but why buy something if it's not what you need coming out of the box? Better choices are available.Second, they are way too short. End to end they're barely 1I 1 inches. standard chucks are 12, and if you're trying to learn the around the neck, under the legs, around the back type of stuff, that inch will make a difference. Even for some simple switches, it can be annoying. If you're of crowd that likes the 10 inch, you'll be happy. I found them pathetically short.I used them once and I'm going to give them to the nearest interested child. That's who it's useful for.

Chemical fume
Blame me for having a sensitive nose, the moment I took those out of the plastic bag there were in, I was assaulted by almost overwhelming chemical fumes that made my nose sting. If you think this is an isolated incident, you would be wrong, I have been in the construction trade for over 10 years, I'm no stranger to wearing masks and smelling the fumes from various building products that masks cannot protect me from. So when my nose start to sting and producing that numbing sensation, I know I should either vacate, or crank up my exhaust fan.Thinking the fume is from manufacturing and should dissipate with time, I decided to leave it outdoors under my patio table so it is out of direct sunlight and rain. 1 week passed, then 2 week passed, the overwhelming offensive smell lingered, and dissipated barely by 20%.If you want to poison yourself and your kids, this is a great way to do it. Me, I left these hanging outside of my house to this day, which is around 4 weeks since I bought them, and yes, they still smell, i just might donate them to the trash one day.

Rope beats chain! Perfect Length! Great extra padding for extensive drills
The rope is better for practicality and repetitive drills which is pretty important for training, but that's my opinion. Also, the length of the rope, or chain, should be exactly how long it is on this one. The previous one I bought was chain linked and was 2 inches shorter and extremely painful doing multiple grip switches because of the shorter length forcing you to go from a quick wrist supination to having to hyper-pronate your wrist at a terrible angle to snatch the other handle. I think it actually injured some of the nerves in my wrist for a little while, but these are perfect for doing drills with, the extra padding is a very welcome addition when hitting yourself in certain areas after doing fast movements and building momentum and switching to a different exercise after you've built up enough impetus. You can still end up on the floor squirming in the fetal position regardless of the extra padding, but that helps you to remember to always focus, especially if you wanna have kids......

Good for a prop maybe
These are not martial arts training weapons in the least, good for a costume prop maybe. They are very cheaply made, very light weight, and flimsy. The inter tube/pipe is very very thin PVC with a press pin through it to hold the string to it. Well the first light strike i did with them the pin broke through the PVC and the two separated. I did salvage them by replacing the inter tube with 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC. Now they are much better of a training weapon and have better weight feel.
