What type of 1/2" or larger tubing do you suggest for the main trunk-line. I have PEX tubing running to all my landscaped areas.

The 1/2" flexible polyethylene pipe will give you about 5-6 gallons per minute which works out to about 300 gallons per hour. Add up the amount of water your emitters or sprays or drip line you are using to see if this will deliver enough water.

Going to connect off one of my sprinkler heads to get micro bubblers installed. Zone shows 40psi when running, do I still need a pressure reducer?

From my experience (using drip system in a large yard, about 400 feet total 3/4" PVC feeding 4 or 8 way heads which in turn use this exact line to feed 1, 2, and 4 GPH pressure compensating Rain Bird Emitters), you should have zero problems at 40PSI. I have taken this to 72 PSI without problems, although I much prefer to run the system at 30-50PSI - 40 is perfect.
