Compatible with Kwikset lock
I ordered this latch to replace my existing door latch on my garage door. The existing latch had stopped opening all the way and the door was getting stuck. It was a quick and easy replacement and it fit the existing lock right out of the box. Not a bad deal for a couple of dollars. The kwikset replacement was nearly $15. I just replaced this today, so the life of this product remains to be seen. But so far the door is functioning with no issues and it seems to be a solid part.

Good Enough
I purchased this for $9.19 to replace the latch assembly in my Wright lockset. My door is common, 1 3/4 inches thick, 2 3/8 inch backset, 1 inch round role and the existing lockset used a square spindle. This latch assembly is for a square spindle. That's important. It was easy to install and fit perfectly. There were some minor differences with this lockset compared to the lockset it was replacing. My "Wright" lockset requires close to a quarter turn to open the door. This lockset only requires 1/8th turn. The "Wright" lockset had a stiffer spring. This lockset turns with less force. I think this one is easier to operate and I prefer the feel. I can't review durability or reliability and I don't have any other locksets to compare it to but for now 5 stars.

Check measurements
The lock will work for the correct locations. Did not work for me. Wrong dimensions

Be Aware - Was Poor as a Replacement for me, oversized 3 ways
Wanted this to replace the latch on a 1950's vintage interior solid-core door and it was oversized 3 different ways, despite other replacement latches fitting as supplied.Problems encountered:#1 - the main shaft would not fit in the existing hole, hung up while inserting and could go no further than part way. WORKAROUND FIX: Had to chisel out and enlarge the hole (hope you have a narrow chisel)#2 - The ribbed collar at the latch end was MUCH bigger than the standard hole, could not force it nor could the hole be enlarged to fit without wrecking the integrity of the door - it would come too close to the edge. WORKAROUND FIX: multiple pliers and twist the collar off, remove and discard it.#3 - bronze square trim plate for the latch side has a 1/8" bend lip - so it will not sit flush with the edge of the door, and would prevent the door from closing, unless your prior latch had the same design. Would have needed to chisel out amore to make it fit. Plus the hole in the plate for the latch to come through is too big now that the collar was removed. WORKAROUND FIX: used a different plate. Why did I use it?Did not find out until too late to return. I actually had a different replacement latch that was working in the door, but I took that for a bedroom door that needed a replacement as well and got this one to do the closet. Was not happy in the install, but made it work. Would not buy it again.

kind of flimsy
Kind of flimsy - spring had trouble extending the latch.

very cheap product
Latch face plate is bent sheet metal. The latch hole is width of the plate and much bigger than the latch. Very cheap looks. The latch body is fairly weak construction, exactly the same as the latch I broke. Homedepot has better looking replacement at same price. I'll wait until opportunity comes.

Great replacement for Schlage-style handleset
I used this as a replacement for a neighbor's broken latch mechanism on her older handleset. Local big box shops only seemed to carry the newer style crescent-shaped spindle Kwikset version, so after careful comparison I decided to pick this up as the dimensions matched and the square spindle of the original. This was also well priced and didn't have the needless deadlock functionality since it's not a locking component (normal handle on the outside). It ended up being a drop-in replacement, although the tolerances are tighter on this than on the original, some some finagling was required for fitment. That aside, this is a rock solid replacement if you have a non-deadlock latch with a square spindle, which seems to be 'Schlage-style'.

It's nice to get parts on line
We put the new part in the handle good as new

Replaces one of my broken bedroom door locks
Had to score the hole with a file as there were too much metal that allow the metal shaft to fit

Will not work in vintage door without modification
Due to the internals having rounded barrel unable to slide in squared hole in door without modification. Went with another.Looks solid construction just not right for what I needed

Advertised as universal. It is not.
It did not fit my door handle despite being advertised as universal. The square is too small.

Fit my gate door very nicely.
Easily install, and fit very well. Looks good quality.
