No not at all. We give them to our Labradoodle/Goldendoodle mix but I've been occasionally borrowing one from her. They don't resemble Styrofoam at all! I'm odd like that too. Texture and "mouth feel" is a huge deal with me too. Sophie takes them without any problem. We just tell her "come take your Claritin" and she ambles over and takes it without any problems at all.

Yes, I take this everyday to address skin itching as a reaction to dust, pollen, etc. I switched from Zyrtec to Claritin several years ago due to side effect of drowsiness.
