Not for beginners - excellent resource for intermediate or up
This is an absolutely WONDERFUL book - a comprehensive resource for anyone who wants to learn how to piece a feathered star block. The book includes details for drafting your own feathered star blocks in any size. The book also includes templates and detailed information for cutting and piecing presized blocks (12", 15", 18", 21"). There are instructions for creating a variety of feathered star blocks. However, this is NOT a project book - it is up to the users to design their own quilts. There are a few pictures of the author's quilts (which are also viewable on her website - search for Marsha McCloskey) and some tips on selecting colors and fabric values for best effect. This is the best resource available on this topic. Period.

Terrific book - a few are easier than you might think
Still these would be too intimidating for a beginner. However if you go very slowly and carefully you will be rewarded! It really helps if you have her feathered star ruler.https://www.amazon.com/Feathered-Star-Ruler-16th-Lines/dp/B002QVPKD8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1534004373&sr=8-1&keywords=feathered+star+rulerThis ruler is also very useful for other kinds of precision piecing.

Great Book
No one beats Marsha McCloskey when it comes to Feathered Star Quilt Blocks. Purchasing it from Amazon has saved me some money, and that is important in these times. The book provides numerous blocks that can be made into a quilt. Ms McCloskey provides excellent information and directions in her book. If you want a challange, purchase the book and make a block. Ms McCloskey provides excellent directions along with visuals. It may take time to read the instructions in the first part of the book, but well worth it. I wanted a challenge and this book provided that. I purchased both books.

Glad I added this book to my quilting libary.
I haven't made any of these stars yet, but they are beautiful to look at. I purchased Marsha McCloskey's feathered star ruller at the same time, so as soon as I get a few other projects out of the way I'll be experimenting with these. Be aware, the book literally describes these blocks as taking a long time to make, so it's a great book if you would like a challenge as a quilter, else you can just enjoy the pretty pictures.

Very difficult
This book had beautiful pictures on Amazon of the feathered stars you could make. What I couldn't read was the print at the bottom of the book that indicated these were very hard blocks that took a long time to make. However, they are beautiful and the book is very nice.
