The Martin MA540 Series Does In Fact Provide "Superior" Performance!
OK I Am Gonna Rant and Rave for the Next 10 Minutes About the MA540 Series.................. There Did You Get All That!? But Seriously Folks, Martin Marquis Were My Fav Strings for Years, Until Now, The MA540 Truly IS An Improvd String, and Honestly I Am Pretty Surprised, the Ad Hype and Promotion Gets Kinda Thick Sometimes, So I Did Not Expect That Much; After My First Session I Was Really Glad To Be Wrong! But First, About the Guitar, Its a Mid Level "Art and Lutherie" Cedar and Antique Burst, at The Price Point, the Rusty Antiqued Cherry and Cedar Make a Stunning Appearance, Very Woody Look Indeed! But It Takes Far More Than Visual Appeal To Make a Satisfying Acoustic Guitar! My A and L was Not Bad but Not Great Either; After a 2 year Love/Hate Thing, Let Me Say It This Way, I Never Really Liked It Much, Tried 4 Different Types of Strings and Never Got The Tone and Projection or The Action Where It Needed To Be! Soooo, Put It in the Closet and Gave Up! Then Began Looking For Another New, and "Better" Guitar! Enuff Back Story! Finally Ordered The MA540's Which Were on Promo, the Price Was The Draw, Strings are Pretty Pricey These Days, Yeah You All know It! Over The Years, My Expereince With Phosphor Bronze Was Not All That Great, I Hesitated To Buy The Sets, But Again, The Promo Price Was Unbeatable! So Me Got 'Em and Wow After A Week Of Doing My Twang Thang, Gotta Say, This New Martin Formulation Really Kicks, Nice Balance, Full Sound, Stays In Tune, and Seem to Last Longer, Just Like All the Hype Proclaimed! However, This Is Waht I Came Here To Say, the 540's Literally Made a Different Guitar Out Of the Godin, As of This Moment I Am Not Much Interested In Replacing It! It Does Most Things Right For This Cheap Old Man: Deeper Bass, and More Punch, Nice Feel With No Fight, and No Fret Out, I Could Go On! Played Guitar For Over 50 Years and Have Some Know How, But Stil Learning and Loving My "New" Guitar! My Experience With The New MA540 Really Got Me Out of The "Guitar" Doldrums, I Felt The Need To Share My Findings Because I Am Certain There Are Other Players Out There Facing The Same Dilemma as Myself, Their Guitar Just Does Not Satisfy or Inspire, The Proper Strings Are Very Much in This Mix, and of Course the Right and Recommended Setup Makes It All Come Together! Google Acoustic Guitar Setup and Do The Learning Curve, You Will Be Glad You Did. So There It Is, My Take On The Martin MA540's, Tried Not To Get All Technical, Keep it Simple Stupid They Say; So Is This New Phosphor Formulation The One That Will Meet Every Players Needs and Personal Taste, Nope, Not Gonna Happen, BUT For Ole [fussy] Richard E., and Many Other Players, I'll Bet These New Martin Series Strings Will Be A Noticeable Improvement and Are Really Worth The Time I Spent Making This Review. Hope They Deliver The Same Rewarding Expereince For You All!--Play On My Brothers!

I Always buy Martin
I've been installing Martin strings for 40+ years. I have tried many other brands, but always come back to Martin.

Caution Purchasing Guitar Strings
Be careful reading the description I thought I had purchased a 3-pack for $16 but bought one set for $16 which is not what I expected.

Great strings. My new go to.
I like the light gauge as it’s stronger tension vs D’Addario EJ16s, with the .54 E and the .25 G string. Still easy to fret and tone is crisp, clear but not overly bright like 80/20s. Good fit for my old Guild all hog dread.

Quality Martin strings
I was never disappointed with Martin’s guitar strings. Great value, tone, and durability. A good practice is to use a clean cotton cloth to wipe down the strings after each playing session .. of course washing your hands first before playing the guitar is also important as well ..

Martin’s are quality.
I use martins Sp strings for a better quality of play, particularly if recording. You are not expected to keep the strings on guitar for years so they do the job what you want for the time you need. I change mine regularly, particularly through gigging too. I use Martin guitars (my favourite) and would be quite fussy what I use. I prefer light weight when I play also. 3 packs for this price is decent. Box was damaged as photos show.

Poor quality
I don’t know what the difference is between. These and regular Martin strings but I had three snap in one set in the space of a day. They feel lower quality and behaved that way. Trying to finish a set and keep an audience interested when strings keep snapping is a frustrating experience. Been playing 25 years and build/repair guitars for a living. I’ll be avoiding these in future.

good not great
these strings are just ok, they wont last long and the brightness fades after one gig so youd be better off buying something like elixirs

High E string unwound at the ball end!
High E string unwound at the ball end leaving me short of a full set. Not really what I would have expected from Martin guitars.Guess I won't be buying them again.:-(
