Received package and all 7 sets of different color inks had leaked over entire package. I was able to save pens but no ink left to use. Very disappointing. It came by mail and Canada Pist had to put it in a sealed bag due to leak. Now have 7 colored pens with no ink.

I’ve ordered a Platinum Preppy 7-pen set before, and I LOVED almost everything about them. Every pen writes smoothly and beautifully seconds after popping the cartridge in. The line size suits me perfectly. My one niggling complaint was the huge, non-removable label on each pen. This made an expensive feeling pen look like a disposable one. But, I loved them so much I began toting them between work and home so I could use them both places. Amazon ads got me, and this deal popped up. If I were a trout, these pens would be the perfect lure. So I decided to get this set so I could have one at home and at work. And this set is just as great as the last one, but with a serious makeover. The barrels are now translucent colors, matching the cap and ink. The obnoxious label has been replaced with a small barcode. Even though they’re brightly colored, they don’t look childish. They’re as low maintenance as a ballpoint, in between cartridge replacements. Extra cartridges are a definite bonus. This is a zero-regret purchase if you have even a minor interest in fountain pens.

Awesome price for 7 pens and extra cartridges. Preppy is great for a cheap fountain pen. It writes smoother than some of my much more expensive pens. The inner cap seal mechanusm keeps the nib wet and ready-to-write even after long periods of storage, which is perfect for those rarely used colors like yellow, pink, and purple. Individually these pens go for around $5 a piece without the cartridges.You can install a converter (~$7) to use bottled inks, or easily alter it to an eye dropper-fill with a huge ink capacity (look for instructions online).

I picked up my first Preppy in the Toronto Reference Library store. I wrote with it for a year before it finally gave up the ghost (I confess I don't take care of my fountain pens very well).This is an outstanding pen, and this is a value pack that should keep me going for ages. And loads of ink. The nib is not "microscopic" but it's quite fine as opposed to the Varsity disposable pens which seem to get everywhere.For someone who doesn't really know how to tend fountain pens like me, this pack is perfect. They're long-lasting, the ink is terrific, and I've never - ever - had them leak. Not even going up and down mountains and on planes.
