An excellent book with a good balance between theory and practice. Demonstation of cosuneliing is clear with details discussion about the strategy of counsellor.

I am not agree, that this book is not useful for professional people. IMHO, autor's psychotherapeutic experience is very comprehensive, and exemples of sessions are valuable. This book is good for all psychotherapysts, who interest in Bowen's family therapy.

this is a helpful book with a thoughtful questionnaire and some good guidance--as with any type of guidance one much consider each situation thoughtfully to discern what to apply but I found this book helpful

Through the entirety of this book, I went back and forth between "hogwash" and "insightful" or "interesting" and "wow!" Families definitely affect relationships and this book goes into great depth on the various ways they do. They also speak about self-differentiation vs. fusion (which was the largest takeaway for me) and anxiety being the root of many of our issues (not sure I believe that). Overall a good read.

The author presents an immense amount of information but does so in a clear and understandable manner. I highly recommended this and his other books for pastors.

I didn't realise this was written by a pastor, it might be good for other pastors, but no decent grounding in evidence-based practice was evident in the first chapter so I gave up. I can't see how it would be good for mental health professionals.

This book was extremely helpful in putting together pieces of Family Systems Theory that I have studied over the years. His perspective on therapeutic relationship and tips on how involved to be as a counsellor were very useful. A great read.
