Tovolo 81-20443 Round Ice Cream Sandwich Cutter, Plastic, White

Bought this along with the rectangular one to replace a Chef’N Ice Cream Sandwich maker that only made four sandwiches at a time. The recipe that came with these Tovolo ice cream sandwich cutters is very tasty and makes enough batter for eight sandwiches using both the round and rectangular cutters. I tried three recipes (Chef’N, America’s Test Kitchen, and the Tovolo recipe) and found the one that came with the Tovolo cutters to be the best. I found I needed to cook the batter longer than the time given in the recipe. The cutters come with presses that make the design on the top and bottom of the sandiwhiches. Best to use the press before the cookies are completely cooled (about 20 minutes). After cutting the cookies pieces, they go in the freezer for at .east 30 minutes. Then you turn one cookie piece upside down and place the cutter over it. Then you put the ice cream in the cutter over the cookie part. Best to let the ice cream soften a bit before putting it on the cookie. You can vary the thickness of the ice cream. If you fill the ice cream almost all the way up, it makes a pretty big sandwich. After you put the ice cream in, then you top it with the right side up of another cookie piece. Then you put them back in the freezer until they are ready to serve. (All this is in the instructions.). Added bonus is the brownie scraps that are left after you cut out the pieces for the sandwiches.
