Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11

This book FASCINATES my 3 year old grandchildren, a girl and a boy!! It’s a little scientifically dense for them at that age, has too much detail, so I skip over some stuff as I read it to them. It’s a great book for them to grow into. The illustrations are top notch and the narrative spell-binding. It has just enough repeating phrases for them to supply the words I omit. We became huge fans of this writer and read all his other books as a result but this is definitely their favorite. They chose to be astronauts for Halloween as a result of this book Their other favorite of this author is “Keeping the city going” about a city’s Covid shut-down if you can believe it. I’m a mega library user and seldom buy books, but I was forced to buy 3 books because of my grandchildren’s frustration at the frequent unavailability of his books at the library.

Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11 manages to make you feel, with both words and pictures, as if you're right there riding atop the might Saturn V. A truly beautiful and educational book that captures the mood and feeling of wonder of the time. Can't recommend this enough. My 4-year-old daughter loves it!

My 4 year old wanted to learn more about the moon and astronauts, and after doing some research I decided to buy few books. This one was by far the best, and he absolutely loves it, and requests it very often as his bedtime book. Some books become tedious to read over and over but so far this one has not and we both enjoy it, as it is written almost like poetry. We enjoyed the beautiful artwork also.
