COBIHistorical Collection Sd.Kfz.2 Kettenkrad, Multicolor, 170 pieces

Sorry if the long intro makes this into a sort of recipe blogger recipe. Scroll down for my remarks on the kit itself.I’ve been building Cobi historic aircraft kits for about a year and have been looking into their armor and vehicle kits (and ships) as a way to branch out. The quality has been impressive and the overall accuracy to the real thing pretty darn good for a block kit. I used to build plastic models and got pretty deep into accuracy so it’s nice to see the block kits getting as close as they do. I don’t have time for plastic models any more so the kits are a way to keep the old hobby alive.I started buying the kits as a way to support the local military aviation museum. They sell kits of some of their aircraft so I thought it would be a fun way to support them. I’m already collecting and building several Lego kits, so it’s a natural extension of that. I also volunteer there so I get a chance to see what alls in stock and I’m blessed with a small discount as well.In addition to the aircraft, the museum has several military vehicles. In the lobby of the museum sits a Kettenkrad, with the utility trailer. It’s a neat little vehicle and gets almost as much attention as the actual German made V-1 that sits next to it. The Kettenkrad has always been a personal favorite for me and seeing one up close is fantastic.So I was scoping out the Cobi vehicles and the instant I saw the Kettenkrad kit from Cobi I ordered it. No hesitation.The kit is small. Fitting since the Kettenkrad is small. It’s easy to build, and I was done with it in about an hour. The instructions are clear and similar to Lego instructions in style. Easy to follow and usually very clear.The hardest part was getting the tracks on the sprockets — the sprockets are offset and need to be at the same distance to ensure that the tracks will engage properly. Basically they all need to have the flange either in or out so that the sprockets line up with the track.The track itself is a little tricky to get mounted, because the instructions tell you to complete the loop on the vehicle. That’s not easy, especially when you have big fingers like me. I’m going to experiment a little and see if it’s easier to complete the loop off the vehicle and then put the sprockets in the track and then put the sprockets on the vehicle.The rest of the kit is a breeze to build and looks great. It’s pretty close to the actual Kettenkrad and looks good on the shelf.

Tbh it was an easy half hour build not too complicated but the finished product makes for a great addition for your kid or even a collection shelf it’s fun to play with it’s durable even and it’s just nice to look at when you finish building it!

Cool little model to put together. As reported front fork needs reengineering, as it falls apart if moved. All parts were included as promised, some extra parts were left over. Example of over engineered German WW2 vehicle. Nice rendering!

Cobi did a nice job recreating this very unique German motorcycle Halftrack vehicle. It’s a fun build, and contains quite a bit of detail. A very unusual item, that adds a bit of interest to your WWII military display.

Easy to build, some bricks hard to get together. Would be ok for not to young kid. Son loves it.

Cobi pits out some great military sets. This one is a quick easy build, but still looks great. Only issue is the figure doesn't quite fit.

This was my 4th COBI vehicle kit now andI highly recommend COBI kits manufactured by our friends over in Poland. They are well made with generally decent picture instructions and great fun to build.COBI customer service was also excellent when my pets chewed some parts of one of the finished vehicles.
