USB-Bug Dual-Output, Inline USB-A r with Data Masking Port (USB-BUG)

I bought this device to help insure that I was providing adequate current to charge my hungrier devices. Although it didn’t occur to me in advance, I quickly realized that it is also a very quick way to identify broken charging cables, as these will pass no current. I bought the Triplett product for two reasons. First, I have trusted the brand since my earliest experience with my Father’s pre-WW2 volt-ohm-milliammeter. Second, Triplett adds the useful feature of a second output connector that doesn’t connect the USB data lines, so the device can prevent malicious access to a device being charged from a public USB source.The device is well made and easy to read. I haven’t checked the accuracy but see no reason to doubt it.

this unit did absolutely nothing when I plugged it in to my 56v passive (4 powered pairs, 1 pair flipped polarity, starlink wiring) POE setup. I flipped the switch to all positions, and tried connecting without an output cable, reconnecting both before and after flipping switches to each position, with no effect.maybe mine was dead, or maybe it just doesnt work with less common passive POE setups.my end-run POE meter works (voltage), and the other inline POE meter on amazon at least works as an end-run meter (voltage, doesnt work with inline) with the same setup. but this unit from Triplett does nothing at all.

Excellent for testing power out of computers or power supplies.

Does not pass data, making it useless.
