This is Lesley-Ann Jones Best Book Yet! Quite a Masterpiece!
Timely conceived and comprehensively researched book on John Lennon, remembering 40 years since his untimely death and also his 80th birthday. This is such an amazing and truthful record from Lesley-Ann Jones who has much experience of writing wonderful biographies such as Bohemian Rhapsody, David Bowie, Marc Bolan and others. I feel that this is definitely her best and know that although never having met John Lennon, she has researched this so incredibly well having known Cynthia Lennon, George Martin, Klaus Voorman, Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney and so many of John Lennon's close friends and associates. Lesley_Ann Jones presents the facts so clearly and the results are amazing and thought-provoking. She describes the challenges he endured with his family, the effects on his personality, behaviour, relationships, and motivation so clearly whilst still paying homage to his creative genius also. The book is incredibly well written and must have taken a lot of work to research and write. The result is a fresh look at the successes and challenges of the prominent member of Britain's most successful band and the effects that success had on him, his band-mates and their families and friends. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for it's factual content, the writing style which is sublime and so well presented, it's honesty and celebration of John Lennon's life.I love the open question 'Who Killed John Lennon?' I thoroughly recommend you read the book and decide for yourself.

Not to be confused with certain over-exposed Royal buffoons...
If you are looking for an in-depth biography of His Fabness then this is most certainly not the book for you. This is very much a light potted life of the rock legend slanted heavily in the direction of the author's own assumptions, obsessions and prejudices. Having said that, it does take the reader down some interesting routes on occasion but also into the realms of near-farce when she attempts to draw comparisons between 1970s Lennon and (I kid you not) Prince Harry!Reading very much like a series of magazine articles rather than one cohesive volume, this is a serviceable and enjoyable enough read for the current asking price of £6 especially if you are already well versed in the facts, figures and finer points of John Lennon's whirlwind of a life. For something meatier, though, look elsewhere...

Good Read
Excellent account of the complex life of the most enigmatic of The Beatles. In fact, focuses more on John Lennon the person rather than John Lennon the Beatle. There is something here for everyone - if you want to love Lennon you will find reasons here to do so but likewise if you want to revile him then all the evidence is here also. Have read a few books on Lennon and this is bay far the most balanced.

John who?
In a recent poll a third of today's youngsters said they didn't know what John Lennon was famous for, and one thought he had 'discovered glasses'. Well now you know what to buy them for Christmas...Jones sifts through the history of the Beatle from the Hamburg days to the break-up of the band, his assassination in New York and his legacy. She presents the man, his fame and his demons in a unique way that is both meaningful and subjective. The writing style flows as easily as the pages turn. More than just a stocking-filler

Wow.........!
It is a biography like no other. It gave me a whole new realization of who John Lennon really was, his life, and the people in his life. The author explores in detail and shares the story, portraying each character at a very personal level. It is like finding biographies within a biography. I am still feeling the buzz. Who would have expected a biography to be a page-turner?! Great book!

Calcite and Camembert..?*
The author leads us through John's life examining, with some face-to-face interviews with a few who knew him (and some clinical experts), how his mindset was influenced by people and events. It took me a while to get 'into' her language and phraseology* In all honesty I didn't learn much I didn't know historically but it was useful to remind me of what I'd forgotten. It's a long and winding road.....
