Great Cover
The wall plate is a perfect way to cover where an old thermostat was. Our previous thermostat was rectangle and this covered it great. It was easy to install and looks great!

I think it looks better with this back plate than without. But that is just my opinion. If you are looking to cover up a previous thermostat this has the potential to do so.

Looks great, but too small to be of use
This product would look great if it were slightly bigger, but it's 5" in diameter, so if you had an old thermostat which had been painted around, you're still going to see four different-colored corners behind this face plate. The manufacturer says in one of the Q&As that it's 6" in diameter, but that isn't correct. If you're only dealing with a hole in the wall from a previous installation, this would be fine. Just make sure to measure out a 5 inch circle first to ensure you'll have adequate coverage.

Great product.
I ordered this trim kit as I was unable to find the Google Nest trim kit available anywhere (online and in-store) and I was pleasantly surprised. It was incredibly easy to install and looks great. It has a much more minimal profile compared to the Google Nest trim kit and that was a major selling feature for me. I highly recommend this product.
