Mayday!

If I'm right,I think this is the first of the Dirk Pitt series of Books from Clive CusslerI started reading Cussler,when I was waiting for new books from the likes of James Rollins,Andy Mcdermott,David Gibbins,David Golemon,chris Kusneski,Matthew Reilly and wanted something quick and entertaining to read to fill the time.The Dirk Pitt series is certainly one I enjoy and i think this was certainly one of the better ones.I won't bore you with the story,but Clive Cussler writes traditional easy to read goody wins in the end type books,and if you like them you buy them,no matter what.This ,like all the earlier ones are a bit more original,and is not generally dated by modern technologies.Be careful as some of the American books of this story have a different title,but it is the one with the 1st World War aircraft attacking various things as per the cover.

This has been reissued under the title of the mediteranean caper. If you dont have this then Mayday is a good buy.

Bought for my husband and his feedback is that it's one of Clive's best. Written without the aid of a "co-writer" which lots of successful authors seem to use after a while, it's a good read by all accounts.

This is a very early Dirk Pitt novel before he became the super hero of later books and none the worse for that.
