Great ADDITIONAL filter
I have a tank of Mbunas that breed like flies so I need a LOT of filtration. I just put this in, and it's large enough and powerful enough with a good pump to really help clear the water. Cheap addition to tank, and water can't be over filtered.

Works well until the suction cup wears out
These are easy to use and I have them on several aquariums. Two issues:1. After a while the water flow becomes low. This can be fixed by taking the unit apart and soaking the piece that connects to the plastic tubing in vinegar2. After about a year the suction cups wear out, causing the filter to go "belly up", floating on top. This unit is unusable without a suction cup. Are replacement suction cups available? Would like to hear from other users how they have dealt with this. Perhaps there is a way to weigh them down? (I cannot afford to, nor do I wish to replace my aquarium supplies every year).I will probably stick with under-gravel filters in the future as they last almost forever.

EASY SET UP
Plus they give you the air pump easy to install and you can never have enough Bio for your tank. Little shrimp and crabs will sit in it and eat from it. Gives extra cleaning and extra suction for your tank.

So far so good
Not giving it 5 just for the fact as a 1st time sponge filter person I had a hard time setting it up without paper instructions. DO NOT CUT THE TUBE TILL YOU TRY IT WITHOUT THE VALVE! My didnt work with it and the instructions on Amazon said to cut it and use the valve so my tube is a little shorter than I would like but over all im liking it so far.

Works great
It does it’s job. I like the look and feel of them. Give them a good wash before putting them into the tank. They have a strong Chemical Oder to them. But once you rinse it really well under tap water it goes away. Great for my 10 Gallon betta tank. He didn’t seem to like my hob Filter very well because it pushed him around but now he’s doing great. Low currents and it keeps the water crystal clear. I switched all my fish tanks to these filters for this reason.

I like the design.
I like that these suction to the glass. The other sponge filters I have that are bottom weighted and sit on the substrate gather/trap fish poop under and near it - now allowing it to get sucked up by my canister. But these suction on the glass so they don't trap anything. They seem to be doing their job. I have 2 on my 100 gallon tank and to be honest they would not be enough in their own (I also have 2 large canister filters on this tank). Not sure about this being a fit for 60 gallons as this advertises. Seems more like 20-30 gallons

This is a great filter
I got this to be a secondary filter for extra clarification, since I already had a pump & filter. My main system was focused on biological filtration. I wasn't expecting magic from this since it is just a fine sponge attached to the airpump, but it is amazing. Maybe it is just because I have a stronger airpump than strictly necessary, but I always have clear water. Change out the water, clear again in 15 minutes. Mess with the substrate? Murk is gone almost as fast as it is made.

Fantastic!
I currently run 3 of these filters (rated for 60 gallon aquariums) on my smaller fish tanks. I find that these style of filters move significantly more water than the equivalently sized round sponge filters sold at my local fish store for a slightly lower price to boot! I run them using different air pumps in each of my tanks, but the one I would recommend is the small black one pictured, it can easily handle two of these filters in up to 100 gallons of water, I opted to use the large pump as I'm using a separate tank to keep extra cycled media. These are fantastic as supplementary filtration for large and small aquariums, however, due to the lack of output flow produced by them I would probably not recommend using these as your only source of filtration unless you're an experienced aquarist. For small breeding tanks or quarantine, these are absolutely perfect.

Sponge filters are the simplest form of filtration. Just ...
Sponge filters are the simplest form of filtration. Just get an air pump and that's it. Since they have 2 sponges, you can "clean" one of them at a time. Don't clean them with soap, just use the old tank water and squeeze out the dirt that is trapped in it and that's it. The sponge houses the necessary beneficial bacteria for fish to survive. It converts all the ammonia to nitrites and nitrates which can then be removed with water changes.

great value!
Works as described. really bang for the buck here, can't go wrong with this.Have it hooked up to a "Pawfly Uniclife air pump UL40" and have both outlets of this pump connected to the filter with the tool that comes with the pump.I bought the pump on Amazon as well for like $22 and this one included airline tubing, air-stones and the thing to make 2 outlets into 1. so, for about $37 you have a great working biological filter!I use it besides my Fluval 406 in a 55 Gallon. would not recommend to just use the sponge filter for a 55 gallon even though it is rated to clean 60 gallons. a 30 gallon maybe if the bio load is not to heavy. Yay spares
I use these in my axolotl tank - the originals were really smelly and I couldn’t rinse them out completely so I bought these on a whim and they are great replacements. I threw the old ones in the washing machine (without soap or chemicals) and they came out intact (I was scared to wash them and have them disintegrate without spares). I will swap them again when the new ones are dirty and wash them the same way. I’m happy to have spares now.

A good steal BUT….
I do not like this product! Why? Well because the pump is way to loud so I lost my money their and instead I bought a new entirely quiet pump! And now I am going to return this item just because of the pump! I am so sad because all the good reviews told me that it was a good pump! Oh well :(. But if you do need extra supply's or just the filter then that's fine it's very good however the pump is bad and I will be buying this again without the pump!
