LanskySharpening Tool Dlx 5 Stone System LKCLX

I took a very dull knife, one that was almost like a butter knife, and sharpened it back to a respectable level in about 15 minutes the first time I used this. Clearly one needs to practice a little bit with this sharpener in order to bring up the best edge. But anyone can use this right out of the box. Only complaint is the case. Mine would not latch shut no matter how hard I tried. I think the plastic injection mold they are using is getting worn out?! Also they sell a stand for this sharpener. I would liked to have had the option of buying a set that included that stand, as it would make sharpening knives much easier.

A great deal of fiddling is necessary to properly straighten the rods. All of the stones are glued in at slightly different angles so you can't just straighten one rod and use it for all of the stones. Some of the stones are glued in at a slant and only one stone was flat. Image of the worst one. The set screws that hold the rod in place on all of them constantly and very easily back out. Irritating and problematic but fixed with some blue Loctite. After a great deal of fiddling, it will put a wonderful edge on... but fit and finish is definitely not worth the money. Very poorly constructed.

THEN GO GET A KME AFTER YOU'RE DONE SCREWIN' AROUND TRYING TO GET YOUR BLADE IN THE LANSKY JAWS, BENDING THE RODS TRYING TO GET THEM OUT OF THE CLIPS IN THE BOX, AND GAWD FORBID THEY REMEDY THOSE BLADE SCRATCHING JAWS VERSUS TELLING "YOU" TO FIX THEM WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE, OR BUY YET ANOTHER PART.LANSKY, SHUT DOWN AND RE-TOOL. Lansky was always good, but while advertised as "made in America", this set is stamped as Made in China. The listing is wrong.
