The Everyday Torah: Weekly Reflections and Inspirations

Book is Great - But...
I love this book, but I should have bought a new one. This book smells of patchouli and I hate that smell. I tried putting it in a bag with baking soda for more than a week and it still smells. I know it's risky to buy used books, but I looked only for the rating, and in it there was no mention of smell.

The Everyday Torah
While I have not yet finished reading this book, I have enjoyed every moment thus far! While born Jewish, I wasn't raised in the community and without a lot of the background knowledge. I recently started dating a very religious Jewish man who has done a great job of helping catch me up, but this book has helped in so many ways. The format is easy to digest and discuss. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Maybe not everyday......
I decided to read and pray through the five books this year as a discipline and bought this as a commentary to read after I had digested the passages by myself. It is designed to support a faster rate of progress through the texts, i.e. cover the Torah in one year. Each section has three short essays (about 1 and 1/2 pages each) written by different people. Each one contains one good idea to reflect on - so as a thought for the day or week it works well. I keep it by my bed and dip in before going to sleep.
