Headsweats Women's Performance Reflective Race Hat Baseball Cap for Running and Outdoor Lifestyle

Love this hat... except for...
Cap is surprisingly lightweight and protects the head against the sun. The inner stitching, especially around the lid, is solid as heck. I thought it's surprisingly good for a hat made in China hat. Then I looked at the tag and found that it was made in El Salvador. I don't know why, but I like that! The orange color I got looks a little different from how it looked online, and wasn't my cup of tea. However, the vendor shouldn't be penalized for monitor color differences so I'm keeping it -- yes I look like a neon clown, but it does the job and I won't get mistaken for a deer. I'd get the white one if I could do it over again. Maybe I'd spray some scotchgard on the hat to keep stains off. Still, I'd say for outdoor running/hiking/rowing/tennis/golf, I can't get a better hat than this.

Top quality. Highly recommended.
This is a quality hat. I particularly like the edge piping around the bill and most of the bottom edge of the hat which is executed very well. The piping is a silvery, reflective material. I'm sure that will aid my visibility this winter. The tightening strap on the back is also very nice - not just velcro which can be scratchy but a buckle arrangement. My wife wants one so I will be looking for another. It has a fairly large bill with a black underside which helps with reflected light on sunny runs. The fit is also pretty good. I have a large head and find some running caps to fit very close to the head. This one has a little breathing room for my skull.

Plainer-Looking than SweatVacs, but Less Expensive Too
I bought both the HeadSweats Race Hat and SweatVacs Race Hat at the same time so I could pit them against each other. I was a little skeptical about how well either could possibly work, but I am a heavy sweater, so I was desperate. Traditional cotton headbands soak up sweat to a point, but then they become saturated and stop working any further. And they do nothing to protect my eyes or the top of my head from the sun, which is important with the summer approaching. The HSRH is extremely light and well fitted. I did have to take up the adjustment strap at the back a little, but not much. The adjustment strap has a thin plastic buckle on it. I'm a little worried that it might be a failure point in the future, with temperature and humidity swings, and the general thinness of the plastic material. The SVRH's wide velcro strap (with reflectivity to boot) seems superior to me. But time will tell. The HSRH is very basic in appearance. It's basically monochromatic--just one color. There is a logo on the side, and there is a nice black undersurface beneath the long bill, but overall the HSRH looks a little plain and boring, if you care about that sort of thing. It really does come off as something intended from the ground up to be decorated with a promotional logo of some sort, to the point that it seems overly dependent on that sort of decoration, because without such, the hat just looks blah. (Maybe that's partially because I picked GRAY, which is one of the dullest colors known to man!)The SweatVacs model is visually more appealing. It's got reflectivity at the front and back, while the HeadSweats model does not. I picked up a SVRH with contrasting stitching, for just a little more pop, but this HSRH is all just one single color. The HeadSweats hat is also consistently cheaper, though. They keep it simple, and they keep the price down, comparatively speaking. That said, functionally, I am extremely impressed with the HSRH. It wicks moisture away from my forehead and sweaty hair very well. While it quickly feels wet in my hands when I take the hat off at a drink stop, it still feels lightweight, so it doesn't retain very much of the moisture that it absorbs. It really does transport the sweat from my skin outward into the air. I've had so many so-called wicking fabric garments fail to do that in humid southeast Texas, that this hat's fabric surprised me with its effectiveness. Coolmax kicks caboose.I rinse the hat off in the shower after every run, and then hand-wash it with detergent in the sink at the end of the week. Either way, it air dries in front of a floor fan in about 2 hours. My biggest gripe about both the HeadSweats and the SweatVacs Race Hats is the construction of the interior sweatbands: (1) They're both quite thin, which seems rinky-dink. Maybe that allows for better wicking, but coming from traditional stand-alone headbands, it seems chintzy in these hats. (2) The built-in headbands are sewn at the bottom, but open around the top of the bands, which allows them to flop down and outside of the hats. I often feel the sweatbands dangling down the front center of my forehead, and have to keep fiddling with them to stuff the headbands back up inside the hats. They should've been sewn in better by both manufacturers.Still, the hat works. Plain as it might look, it does what it's supposed to do, even in hot, humid, Texas. Gotta respect that!Because of the disparity in the looks department, I bought a lot more SweatVacs hats directly from their official website. I bought a few more HeadSweats too, but I opted for slightly fancier versions than their basic Race Hat in order to work around the plainness factor. The HeadSweats website also offers a decent discount as well.Overall, if I could, I'd rate the SweatVacs Race Hat 1/2-star ahead of the HeadSweats. They both work very well, but the SVRH looks a little better.

Running hat
Love this hat! It it light weight and has a good fit. Mine is bright orange, just what I was looking for! After using this for a while I'm revising my rating to 4 stars. I still love the hat but the sweatband needs to be thicker and unfortunately the great bright orange color fades which is a little upsetting because I haven't had it all that long. I rinse the hat after each use so maybe that contributes to the fading. I do still like the had and would recommend it.

Don't get shot
I bought this hat in Blaze Orange to wear while backpacking during hunting season. It's great for warmer weather as it is so light and very breathable you hardly notice it. Other backpackers I came across said they could see me from very far away it is so bright. My only complaint is that for a woman, it is a little too deep - it either pushes down my ears or covers them halfway.

Comfortable Hat and I love the colors!
I love this hat. I purchased the yellow, orange and green one. I wear any color hat with my workout attire and the hat really make the outfit pop. The hat is light weight and extremely comfortable. The fit is not to tight and there is an adjustable band. I definitely will recommend this item to family and friends.

Love the material, size is a bit big
The material this hat is made of is so lightweight and breathable, it's been a real pleasure to wear for biking and running on hot/sunny days - except for the fact that I occasionally have to adjust the position on my head as it slowly slides down.I wouldn't say I have a particularly small head for a female, but I have to tighten this hat all the way before going out in it, and I can still stick a finger or two in there if I press down on my hair. Furthermore, the hat seems to get looser as I move around for a while, so I have to re-tighten it after about 30 mins of running. If you consider yourself to be a small-headed female or if you have no hair, this hat might be too big!If it were just a bit smaller, it would be perfect for me.

Its perfect for my outdoor sports!
Provides protection while not holding in the heat! Washes well. Bought more after owning one for 2 weeks. The reflective is extremely important as when I am on the trails hiking the mountain bikes come full speed and I am doing what I can to avoid a collision.

Headsweats Race Hat: no terry head band!
they don't show you the inside of the hat, and also, the product description claims terry-sweat band.Well there is no terry sweat band - which I wanted. Also the synthetic band flops all around and unless you pay a lot of attention when you put the hat on this synthetic band flops down onto your forehead below the brim. Very poor quality and misleading product description and photos.I wrote to them to complain and here is their official answer (note that they again falsely claim that the terry-band is wrapped in someting ... there is NO terry band just the synthetic.Headsweats is an innovative company and we are constantly improving our products. The word on the street was for us to make our sweatband's appearance more pleasing as well as to make sure it was ever so comfortable against the skin. As such, we have started to partially or wholly (on some models) wrap the terry sweatband in our super soft, moisture wicking, Eventure knit fabric. Not only does the wrapped sweatband look better, it feels better on your skin and performs extraordinarily well in managing perspiration (better known as head sweat). Kleiner Makel
Sitzt anfangs perfekt.

Bin voll zufrieden.
