Too Small
I got these and I was very excited to get a replacement hiking boot. These are high rated. Unfortunately these were too small. I ordered my normal shoe size, but for me that varies depending on what I'm wearing. Most of my boots are size 13, my Red Wing boots are size 14, most of my dress shoes and gym shoes are size 13, my Nike sneakers are size 14, Brands differ on the size I need. I gambled that a 13 would fit me, but it didn't fit. Too small. So I returned them, but Amazon didn't have a size 14, so I had to order direct from Merrell. Paid a lot more. These boots looked really nice, looked well made, looked very comfortable. They are very light weight compared to my Red Wing boots. Wish they would have fit! I went hiking in Red River Gorge and wore my heavy Red Wings again. Looking forward to my next hike and wearing my new light weight Merrell boots.

After Trying Many Boots, These fit PERFECT
I am an avid hiker/backpacker. I have wide feet, so I used to love Vasque and Keen and Asolo, but I tried them on and they all seem to have changed. They used to fit me like a glove, not they seem to run narrow and I could not get them to be "Not Painful". I even went to REI and tried on several at the store. The Salesman said that they all have changed over the past few years. Finally, I ran across these boots and they fit perfect.

Mystifying Merrell
Moab2 seems a bit different. Toe box seems rounder. OK. I took a 9 in the old model, Amazon recommends a 7 for me. Went from this 9 to an 8-1/2EE. Nope. Then 8-1/2M. Yup. In the "real world" I should take a 7-1/2D, but that's with everyday socks. So ... with SmartWools, these in 8-1/2M work after a couple of days of breaking in, starting with athletic socks. Is this confusing? You bet. I've given up on going purely with marked size. If you put on any kind of mileage you really do need to be fussy. It is what it is. Havent gotten the 8-1/2Ms wet yet, can't speak for waterproof quality. In my experience "waterproof" is more a wish than a specification. More on this later ;)

Seem ok but they were moldy
I tried on the right shoe just to check the fit and the fit was good. Toe box was plenty wide for my wide feet. Instep was good for my high instep which is hard for me to find. The arch support is minimal and could be better. The heel felt very hard and could use more padding. Overall they felt ok but I might add an arch support insole. Star rating for the shoes if they arrived in good condition. The problem is the shoes were damp and moldy! White powdery mold all over them and they smell like a basement. The uppers are deformed from moisture. The box appears fine so I'm guessing they were repackaged from a batch that were damaged by water and sold at a discount. Completely unacceptable to sell products in this condition.

Great budget hiking shoe
I've taken these boots through small puddles, shallow creeks and snow and they have kept out the water no problem. They're not too heavy but not as comfortable as trail runners. They absorb impact and grip well. I've taken them on rocky hikes and they've absorbed impact no problem. I'd recommend changing out the insoles on them for something a bit more comfortable. These are more than adequate for mid range hikes.

good boot, not waterproof
good fitting boot with solid construction. But these are not waterproof boots. They are at best water resistant. If you plan to be in heavy rain or standing water, you will want to apply a waterproofing aerosol to the boots (I use silicone). They boots are nicely ventilated and do breath and will dry relatively quickly, and that does keep your feet less wet if water does penetrate. silicone waterproofing may be less than effective on the nylon/polyester fabric and more effective on the leather sections. If you were looking for hardcore waterproof keep your feet dry no matter what, this is not the boot you are looking for.

Thought Shoe was wrong size
Thought the shoe was the wrong size because the tongue of the shoe did not have the W marked even though the box has the W. Tried the shoe on and the shoe is a perfect fit, what I expected, and what I ordered.

Most comfortable pair of boots.
The fit right out of the box was perfect. The arch support was just right. I went on a 14 mile hike and they held up above what I expected. I've worn them daily for my job in which I walk 2-3 miles a day. I'm waiting on my new pair now.

Great pair of hiking boots
First of all I’d like to state that I look in depth when shopping for expensive items. My shoe size is UK10, but when wearing boots I take a UK11.These boots cover my ankles which gives added support where needed. I bought these specifically for walking and mainly Metal Detecting. When spending 6-7 hours on my feet I thought it was important to find a pair of hiking boots that give the support under my feet. So many cheaper boots I bought seem to ok, but they leave my feet painful and aching.I already have a pair of Merrill training shoes, and Merrill Sandle’s, so when I looked at all the different boots I came to the decision that buying Merrill Hiking boots was a no brainier, even though very expensive.I’ve previously bought boots from the following shops, TKMaxx, The Factory Shop, and the camping shop. each of those boots lasted about 6-8 months before I had to throw them away because they wore away, tore at the sides of the boots.I would suggest that you don’t buy cheap because they don’t last. I would recommend these hiking boots.

Long lasting ergonomic
I walk A LOT on both pavement and woodland terrain for up to 10 hours and do it frequently and this is currently the only brand i can trust to not become mushy or fall apart. The sole is very supportive for a very long usage, it will not move around, become detached or let go of the surface cloth like other shoes always do with wear. I have kicked chunks of ice, bonfire logs, rocks, scraped the shoes on forest wood and the stitching and whatever glue holds up. The suede-ish finish feels very nice to the touch and cleans off surprisingly easy for a textured surface. The rubber on the bottom of the shoe takes much longer to wear down than other brands. I am on my 3rd pair of MOAB hiking boots, 2nd pair of running shoes and 1st pair of insulated boots from Merrel and all are impressive in terms of support and durability. The shoelaces are back to being the good kind now, my last MOABs had unacceptable shoelaces and now they switched back to the more durable ones that also don't come undone. The only thing peculiar I ever noticed about the newer MOAB boots compared to the style about 5 years ago is that the toe now has mesh directly on the top which lets more water in during rain or even being kicked up from a wet ground. The older style had a strip of leather straight down the middle with mesh on the sides and the old toe style kept my feet notably drier. Still the best shoe brand for heavy walkers and hikers so far

As good as the original
This is, in my opinion, the very best hiking boot out there. It's super light, solid, well-built, grippy and durable. Perfect for any kind of hiking, from weekend outings to full-blown adventures. I finished a full "Tour du Mont Blanc" (all the Alp summits circling Switzerland, France and Italy) wearing my original Moabs in about 7 days without a single blister and never getting my feet wet. I'm never buying any other model, if Merrell can only keep making it!

Very comfortable but not so breathable... wet feet
2nd day wearing these shoes. Very comfortable right out of the box, just as the advertising said... I can't tell about the waterproofing as I didn't face any water, but the are definitely not as breathable as I expected. My feet were wet as the photo shoes but the outside of the boot is still very dry. Moisture definitely comes from the inside... I usually don't sweat much from the feet, but apparently these shoes makes it different. It is very expensive at 171CAD$ for a boot that is just as regular as any other boot.120$ would be a fair price for these hiking boots.
